11 Best Tobacco Scented Colognes for Men

Tobacco has a long history as a cash crop in the United States, mostly for use in smoking products. However, while the smell of cigarettes can be really repulsive, the essence of the tobacco itself can be amazing when it is included in a fragrance. Tobacco usually gives of an air of masculinity, warmth, and smoothness. In this post, I want to present to you eleven cologne options with prominent tobacco notes in their composition.

What are the Best Smelling Tobacco Scents for Men?

Luxury Tobacco Fragrance

PARFUMS de MARLY Herod, 4.2 fl. oz.A luxury and pretty high end priced scent from French house, Parfums de Marly. The tobacco note found in Herod, is utterly amazing. Playing off of that are spices and a sweet vanilla note.

So, like Man in Black, we have cinnamon spice but also a dark pepper note. It’s spicy but smooth and there is a smoky aroma provided by incense, which permeates that composition. It dries down into a rich and resinous cologne, that is captivating and sexy.

Herod has a maturity and classiness to it and could fit into office wear much better than a fragrance, like Eros. Still, this one can garner the complements and has all day longevity. This is one of the sexiest men’s colognes, in my opinion.

Spicy, Coffee, Tobacco

Magenta Tanzanite by Armani– This one is unisex and some would say it leans feminine. To me, sure, but only slightly. However, this does have an interesting and deep use of the tobacco note, that its worth checking out for anyone.

Magenta Tanzanite kicks things off with a mass of spice. Early, it’s mainly about the cardamom, then that will shift more towards cinnamon. But, you also get a fresh ginger in there for even more.

Vanilla, myrrh, tonka bean, and coffee notes give this an interesting sweetness. It’s got elements similar to Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford (listed below) but this Armani absolutely does its own thing with more spice, a different tobacco scent, and that coffee note that really presents itself in the mid.

Note: The Dua Brand has their own inspired version of this called Purple Stone of Return, in case Armani discontinues Magenta.

Mass Appealing Option with Great Performance

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme Eau De Parfum Spray 50ml/1.7oz– While the name Spicebomb does carry a certain connotation as to exactly how it should smell, Spicebomb Extreme is actually a great tobacco rich fragrance for men.

This is a smoother and warmer fragrance, rather than a completely spicy cologne. It opens with our tobacco note, lavender, and rich vanilla. The cumin and cinnamon notes are there, but greatly toned down versus the original.

Not only does Extreme smell great, it actually lives up to the latter part of its name, in terms of performance. It is indeed extreme, with a strong sillage and seemingly never-ending longevity. It’s honestly, one of the longest lasting scents that I’ve reviewed. Spicebomb Extreme Review

Well-Known Designer Tobacco

TOM FORD Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum 50 ML(1.7 OZ)– A high performing giant in the world of fragrance. Tobacco Vanille is obviously highlighted by those two notes, but it’s excellent blend of sweetness and spiciness is what really sets it apart.

Expensive? Yes, but it delivers an experience that is all its own. This is masculine, refined, and a fragrance that really shines in the winter time. This Tom Ford beauty is dark and has a certain thickness to it. The tobacco note is great, like lightly smoked pipe tobacco/

This is another one, like Sublime Vanille, that features an absolutely divine vanilla note. It’s very realistic and smells utterly perfect to my nose. Add to the two main notes, you get a lovely cacao, fruits, and creamy tonka bean.

The scent is also quite dry and doesn’t have a ‘juicy’ fruit sensation. Overall, it is super sweet and spicy, while being a performance scent that will last and project for ages. Tobacco Vanille Review

Dark, Spicy, and Woody

BURBERRY London for Men Eau de Toilette, 3.3 fl. oz
A fresh and spicy blend of woodsy notes and tobacco. Probably the most masculine of the popular Burberry scents and one which is fantastic in the autumn. Burberry London starts off with that sweet and warm tobacco note and is paired with cinnamon for that spiced kick.

This cologne is dry and earthy at times with the oak moss and calming lavender note. However, the main attractions are the tobacco, leather, and cinnamon. The whole composition is dark and very rich.

The sillage of London is pretty moderate, but you’ll definitely notice you’re wearing it. Longevity is solid and it is quite versatile in its application. I always received complements with this one back in the day.  Read my full London Review

Old School Scent

Tabarome By Creed For Men. Eau De Parfum Spray 4.0 Oz
An expensive blend of ginger and tobacco, which is refined and classy. It opens with an air of freshness and some citrus top notes, bergamot and tangerine.

Though, those two fade into the background rather quickly, and you then really start to get the spicy ginger and a rich floral tobacco note. Yes, this isn’t the pipe tobacco more like the flower on the plant blended with a hint of the cured kind.

It is a very well blended fragrance led by those two aforementioned notes. Also, there is the standard Creed ambergris, and smooth masculine leather. Tabarome is a classic old-school men’s fragrance. It isn’t heavy handed, instead it is understated, and straight to the point.  Creed Tabarome Review

Sweet Honey, Fruit, Tobacco

Tobacolor by Dior– This is a unisex wear from Dior’s La Collection Privee. Tobacolor is a very sweet, warm, smoky, and rich perfume. It’s going to be different from a lot of the other entries on the list, fruitier, but still with great smokiness and our target note.

It is led by notes of plum and peach up top. Warm, ambery, thick with honey, almost like a jam.  The sweetness and smoky aspects here can pack quite a punch, early on, but Tobacolor will settle down…while retaining that essence.

As it dries down, the aroma actually does get drier. Dried fruits, cured tobacco, some spice, that smoke, and all wrapped up in the amber note. The performance delivers and that sillage stays pretty darn strong, even after the big open.

Tobacco Red

Red Tobacco by Mancera– This is another one that is on the pricier side of things. But for some, Red Tobacco is worth it.

The opening is spicy, sweet, yet dry. For me, much of the tobacco is going to come through in the dry down. Cinnamon and saffron tend to come out early, along with some vanilla and fruitiness.

This dry warmth will become smoother after that somewhat rough start, as you get more vanilla, amber, and the tobacco note itself. Yet, the spiciness will remain somewhat throughout the wear. At that point, its a spiced tobacco with vanilla and some dry woods/patchouli.

A bold fragrance with a dense and intense presentation.

Clean Green Tobacco Scent

Dreamer By Versace 3.4 oz Eau De Toilette Spray for Men– You can now get a hold of a full bottle of The Dreamer for right at $30, which is a great price, for this Versace fragrance. It was released in the 1990s and so the price has been reduced, but don’t let that fool you, Dreamer is still a fantastic men’s cologne.

Update: This one has been reformulated. It still has tobacco, but it’s going to be a different experience versus what I wrote here, about the original version.

It opens up with extremely smooth, fresh, and green aroma led by the tobacco note. This isn’t a dark tobacco or smoked tobacco, rather, it is the scent of the flower itself. This is paired with that usual calming lavender note which adds a clean sensation to so many fragrances out there.

The opening feels more powdery than the cologne that you get during the dry down period. Yet, The Dreamer retains its sweet tobacco profile, and only gets better as it moves along.

Finally, you get the woody notes of fir and cedar. This is blended with vetiver and the slight herbal spice of clary sage. It’s masculine, deep, and has a cool dryness about it. This Versace is an absolute winner and one that I love wearing a cooler days of the year. Nice performance with a soft and non-offensive sillage.

Sweet Tobacco and Honey

Thierry Mugler Eau de Toilette Spray, Angel Men Pure Havane, 3.4 Ounce
A gourmand take on tobacco featuring notes of vanilla and honey. It opens like a Cuban cigar that’s been drenched in honey and then dipped in sugar. It’s very rich, warm, and smooth. This is a lighter and sweeter type of tobacco, not at all dark.

These ingredients are later joined by a cocoa note, which smells to me like a chocolate powder. It’s a stronger sort of fragrance with decent longevity. Overall,

Pure Havane is a gourmand tobacco scent with a warm profile. Pure Havane is also versatile, sexy, and built for cold weather. Read my full Review: Pure Havane

Smooth and Leathery

John Varvatos Vintage Eau de Toilette Spray, 4.2 fl. oz.
Smooth, fresh, and a completely classic use of tobacco and leather. The tobacco in Vintage is smokier than probably any of the others on the list. There are fruity notes underneath, but it is a very masculine scent that uses plenty of woods (like the fir note).

Tonka bean helps to smooth it out some, as does the nicely added suede. However, there is also patchouli and dry oak moss. Varvatos Vintage has an outdoorsy edge and is better suited for the older gentleman.

Still, it only projects moderately, so even with all of this manliness, you aren’t going to choke out a room with it. This really is a gorgeous fragrance. I just wish that Varvatos colognes lasted longer, so, be sure to find a cheap bottle.

12 Best Smelling Sandalwood Colognes for Men

Sandalwood is a very common ingredient in many fragrances, especially men’s colognes. It provides scents with a smooth woody aroma with a bit of sweetness which lends itself well to the world of perfume.

Since so many people enjoy this note, some want to find colognes where sandalwood is the main attraction. Well, in this post, I’m going to present the best options for men’s perfumes which feature a prominent sandalwood note.

Now, some of these options will be more of a straightforward sandalwood fragrance. While others, will feature it as the main note, that is perhaps blended with others to make something beautiful and unique.

What are the Best Smelling Sandalwood Fragrances for Men?

Top Pick for Inexpensive Sandalwood Fragrance

Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Cologne, 100 mlMuch more of a pure sandalwood scent than many other of the colognes here. This is an older classic fragrance which adds floral notes like lavender, carnation, and geranium to the woody mix.

It is low key and a softer scent, but not weak. Taylor of Old Bond Street’s Sandalwood, is dry and comforting, and quite affordable.

Taylor’s Sandalwood gives you a cleaner fragrance, without the spices, found in some of the others on the list. Gets fairly soapy at times, with the sandalwood/lavender mix. Then, it can be powdery and fresh.

Best Designer Sandalwood Scent

Guerlain ‘Santal Royal’ Eau de Parfum Spray 4.2oz/125ml – Santal Royal is a newer addition to the list, which I got to try out during the past year. This Guerlain scent opens up with oud and leather being the stars of the show.

The sandalwood is initially a side attraction, along with the cinnamon note. It is quite thick and rich at the beginning, with a rose note providing sweetness, along with a hint of fruitiness.

As it moves forward, Santal Royal, does become much more of a sandalwood dominant fragrance. It is drier and smoother, with the leather note being our target ingredient’s, main partner.

The sillage here is strong, with awesome longevity. It’s a masculine cologne for the colder months of the year. Santal Royal Full Review

Santal Saffron

Santal Carmin by Atelier Cologne– Warm. Saffron, sandalwood, and vanilla is most of what I pick up with this one. Very tiny bit of citrus, right after the initial spray, but not much of it beyond that. Kind of sharp, though.

The saffron is probably number two here and is one of my favorite ingredients in these sorts of blends. Santal Carmin is dry, smooth, and has a fairly creamy sandalwood note…particularly paired with the vanilla.

Guaiac wood and musk round things out. Smokey and somewhat musky in the dry down but mostly giving you a laid back sandalwood and attractive saffron, in these latter stages.

Unisex Chanel Aldehydes and Sandalwood

Bois des Iles by Chanel– An older creation, dating back to the 1920s, Bois des Iles is a fantastic blend of sandalwood and spices. It has some similarities to Egoiste (listed below), but is more of a sandalwood focused blend, with greater floral touches.

Tonka bean lends some creamy sweetness, the ylang-ylang and orris give it a floral and somewhat powdery finish, but the lead is the woods. Bois des Iles opens with aldehydes and coriander creating a spicy and fresh dynamic.

It settles down into a woodsy and amber-laden perfume, with a warmth that is great on an autumn or winter’s day.

May not be for everyone, as it does have more of a floral aroma versus the others on this list, but it is unisex and Egoiste is the more masculine alternative.

Coconut Sandalwood

Santal Complet by Fragrance du Bois– With the coconut and lemon top, you might expect this to be more feminine than it actually is. Sure, it might lean more that way, but Santal Complet is definitely in the unisex camp.

The coconut is great here. Naturalistic and doesn’t constantly try to grab attention. Up top, there is that citrus hint with the tropical fruit, but that is pretty short-lived.

As it dries down, it does indeed become drier, woodier, powdery, ambery, and earthy. The vanilla adds a touch of creaminess to the coconut, but the sandalwood base note is the one that ultimately shines.

More of a mixed blend than just a pure sandalwood fragrance, but it gives you a lot of our target note.

Two Wood Luxury

Oud & Santal by Cartier– The sandalwood has the upper hand in this combination, but the oud note adds some nice depth, warmth, and smokiness to further things along.

This one is actually sweet, also. Cartier adds a plum syrup accord to the mix to give this one a bit more than just the woody pairing. It’s smooth and the oud never goes full barnyard in its smell, to overpower the sandalwood note.

Dries down soft and elegant. It does have a thicker sort of aroma, but it isn’t loud or dominating, especially in the later hours. This is a pricey one, however.

Classic Daily Wear Designer Cologne

EGOISTE POUR HOMME Eau De Toilette Spray FOR MEN 3.4 Oz / 100 ml– A very fresh and masculine scent which is also an amazing performer. I like Egoiste Platinum a lot too. However, if you want the sandalwood note in full effect you should check out this gem.

Egoiste is more of a blended cologne, with sandalwood being one of the biggest contributors to the scent, along with tobacco, rose, and cinnamon.

Egoiste starts off spicy, with its coriander and cinnamon notes. It’s not overbearing, but gives it a nice kick. Then, there is a rose note, other florals, and amber. All together and Egoiste has a balsamic sort of feeling.

Finally, you hit the smooth dry down. Here’s where the sandalwood really comes through. Leather and tobacco with rose and a hint of vanilla. Quite woody, with periods of sharpness, and can really deliver good performance. Egoiste Review

Sandalwood and Rose Blend

Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule Eau De Parfum Spray For Men 50Ml/1.6Oz– A great sandalwood offering from Serge Lutens. It of course has that great woody note as a base.

But, it is joined by raw cacao and rose, to give Santal Majuscule an underlying powdered sweetness. It’s very smooth and has a creamy element while maintaining a familiar dry warmth.

This is absolutely one of the best options on the market, for someone who wants a dominate sandalwood note. It is pretty simple and straightforward, with its list of ingredients, but takes those and creates something that it beautiful.

It has elements of spice and sweetness and bitterness, at times. Simplicity with depth and is just plain enjoyable.

Top Sweet Sandalwood Blend

Original Santal By Creed For Men. Millesime Spray 4.0 OzAn option from Creed which features sandalwood, vanilla, and cinnamon as its main features. I have warmed up to this scent a lot since my original review.

I find it so much more pleasant than after my first few days of wear and really began to enjoy its understated smoothness.

There is a hint of juniper berry in the composition and the whole thing has a really fresh vibe. Original Santal is a softer scent and the longevity is pretty average, but a nice scent to wear on a cold day.

I really like the vanilla note here, with the sandalwood. The cinnamon gives it that little bit of spice, but the sweet creaminess, can be utterly terrific. Creed Santal Review

Great Balanced Fragrance

CREED BOIS DU PORTUGAL by Creed EAU DE PARFUM SPRAY 4 OZ
A very mature and masculine scent perfect for the older gentleman or those who prefer their colognes to have a bit of a spice to it.

It is however, a distinct woodsy experience of lavender, sandalwood, and a dry oakmoss note.

Bois du Portugal starts with the sandalwood and a nice citrus note. Pretty sure, it’s bergamot. You get a somewhat bright and clean aroma, before cedar and lavender, replace the citrus.

Portugal becomes super smooth and fresh, with just a bit of the Creed ambergris, making an appearance.

It’s mostly about the sandalwood and lavender, but you do get some vetiver, during the dry down. Fairly moderate sillage, but lasts on my skin for 8-9 hours. This is a refined and mature scent. Very well put together. Best Creed Colognes for Men. and Bois du Portugal Review

bois du portugal

Best Woody Blend Perfume

Diptyque Tam Dao Eau De Parfum – Another more of a pure bred sandalwood scent. This one is definitely a woodsy/forest type of scent with other notes such as cedar and cypress. Has a very dry and soft aroma.

Tam Dao opens with more of the cypress note, before the dry down transitions to having the santal be the leader of the pack. Lots of wood notes with some amber and slight spices.

This is the choice for those guys who want a woodsy cologne, way beyond just what the sandalwood provides. The cypress and cedar, are also joined by rosewood. So, this one can get quite dry and forest-like.

That can be a selling point for some men, while others would want to stay away. Nonetheless, I think this is the type of fragrance, that could easily win someone over to trying out a deeply woody scent.

Best Dark and Spicy Sandalwood Scent

Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu For Men Eau de Parfum 3.4 Oz– I had to update the list to add this fragrance, that I recently reviewed. Uomo Noir Absolu is a flanker fragrance, to the Uomo series by Valentino. It has a darker quality than other scents from the line.

It starts off with spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper, with the signature Valentino Uomo iris note, and a resinous quality. The spiciness subsides somewhat after 10 minutes.

Then, there is a somewhat powdery sweetness, underneath it all. During the dry down, is where the sandalwood, really takes hold.

It’s sandalwood with spice, incense smokiness, and iris. Not too heavy of a sillage and a good long performance. This gives you something a bit different from others on this list, while delivering a great sandalwood note. Uomo Noir Absolu Review

9 Best Smelling Mint Scented Colognes

Mint is ubiquitous in foods, gums, fresheners, and the like. Whether you’re talking about peppermint or spearmint, everyone knows the smell, and it isn’t a difficult ingredient to parse out. In colognes, it isn’t used all the time, and is even more rarely the star of the show. But, there are some really good ones. Here is a review list of some of the top selections for men’s fragrances with a prominent mint note.

What are the Best Smelling Mint Colognes for Men?

Boozy Mint Fragrance

Guerlain Homme Eau De Parfum Spray for Men, 2.7 Ounce
The mint note in this one is a part of the mojito accord which gives it a fresh and boozy type of scent with a woodsy background. I wear this one on a pretty regular basis.

This one opens up with a strong blend of mint and lime, with the rum note hanging around in the background. The lime and mint are about equal at first, but the mint gains strength, as the wear moves along. It’s also got a sweet sugar note.

During the dry down, the mint is flanked by cedar and vetiver. It becomes woodier and much drier of a cologne. It’s not super heavy and will give you 7-8 hours of performance. My Guerlain Review

Best Smelling Mint

Kryptomint– Kryptomint is a great one, if you’re in the market for a gourmand mint fragrance with plenty of warmth. You get coffee, chocolate, and tonka bean. Pair that with mint and patchouli, giving this Thierry Mugler scent a distinct and delightful vibe.

The greatest part is, that Kryptomint, settles into its warmer state. The opening act is as cold as ice, with a brilliant use of mint. Super fresh and sweet with really nice performance.

Now, Kryptomint isn’t the best fragrance out there. It is getting the nod, as the best mint cologne, in my mind. If I wanted a mint based cologne it would be either this or Guerlain Homme.

Fresh Mint and Lavender

Prada Luna Rossa Eau de Toilette Spray for Men, 3.4 Ounce– I don’t usually care for bitter orange notes like in Terre d’Hermes (which I hate), but it quite simply works in Luna Rossa, and is by no means overpowering.

Plus, the citrus is only the main attraction at first. Then, there is an emergence of mint and lavender. What a great little scent. It is a bright citrus aroma with a cool demeanor thanks to the spearmint and calming lavender note.

The dry down does have a slight powdery/soapy feel, but it isn’t that much, and way less than what is in some of the others. The spearmint here, is utterly perfect.  Luna Rossa Full Review

The Best Seller with Mint

Versace Eros Eau de Toilette Spray for Men, 3.4 Fluid Ounce
Versace Eros is very rich and layered, which helps to produce a heavy, warm, and gourmand aroma. The mint lends to this by playing beautifully off of notes such as tonka bean.

In the newer bottles, I definitely get more of the lemon note, versus a blend of mint and lemon. However, this still gives a great bold aroma, with our target ingredient playing a large role.

No, Eros isn’t a pure mint fragrance, but it provides the cooling freshness against the other warmer/thick notes. Versace Eros Review

An Autumn Minty Cologne

BURBERRY for Men Eau de Toilette, 3.3 fl.ozBurberry cologne is the titular house fragrance from this design company. It also happens to be one of my favorite to wear on this list. Burberry for Men isn’t as in your face as many other colognes on the market, but it allows it’s striking and refined aroma speak for itself.

It features a cool mint note, that provides that familiar fresh spice on top of a smooth sandalwood, and embedded within a warm amber. It is an interesting play between warmth and cold, throughout the wear.

This is all solidified by a smooth trio of sandalwood, lavender, and cedar. This forms the base of Burberry for Men and adds that woody masculine layer.

This has a more mature character and a moderate sillage. I’ve always felt that I could wear Burberry anywhere and it be an appropriate cologne for that occasion. It’s woody, fresh, and an intriguing fragrance that I always love catching a whiff of. My review

Aromatic Mint

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier For Men. Eau De Toilette Spray 4.2 Oz.
Warm, spicy, and vanilla. Le Male gets energized by the mint notes providing a fresh spice to its smooth fragrance.

Le Male is an absolute classic, at this point, and a fragrance that almost everyone has encountered. The mint and vanilla notes are so good together, with some added spices and the calming force of the lavender at the very heart.

The dry down, is more about the vanilla, but the mint hangs around the whole time. Plus, at the start, it really shines. This is an easy daily wear, with good performance, and suitable for younger guys. Le Male JPG Review

Simple and Clean

Ralph Lauren Big Pony Green #3 Men By Ralph Lauren Eau de Toilette, 4.2-ounce
This is a soft and fresh and very straightforward fragrance by Ralph Lauren. The notes essentially consist of mint, ginger, bergamot, which gives #3 a green and spicy scent.

The interplay between the light ginger and mint is interesting. I am a big fan of ginger in colognes, though, it isn’t a huge factor in Big Pony #3. This scent has been discontinued, as it was a short-lived lineup.

However, if you can get a cheap bottle, this is a simple one worth checking out.

Classy Masculine Scent

Cartier Roadster 3.4 Fl. oz. Eau De Toilette Spray Men
Roadster is a fresh and prominent use of mint with some vetiver and vanilla to give it a smoother woodsy feel. However, the mint is the main attraction.

Roadster is a very ‘green’ type of fragrance, with mint as its main note. It’s got a smooth lightness from the vanilla note and the vetiver gives it a masculine quality.

Rather unique overall, but simple. The opening is the mint with a spritz of the bergamot citrus and vanilla sweetness hanging in the background. Top Cartier Fragrances

roadster

Another Guerlain Option

L’homme Ideal Cool by Guerlain– This one is a blend and it’s harder to find nowadays. But, this is a great fragrance with a large dose of mint in there.

Ideal Cool gives you the usual citrus start, like the EDT, but adds on a fresher and greener profile than the other iterations from Guerlain.

The interesting part of the fragrance to me, is when the mint note interacts with the almond. Sounds a bit strange, but it simply works. The sillage here is pretty light, but the performance in terms of longevity is solid.

Best Vanilla Scented Colognes for Men

Vanilla is a popular note used in fragrances for both men and women. Frankly, I love the way it can add a sweet smoothness when used correctly in scents. Vanilla can be a very seasonal type of note when it is predominately featured in a fragrance and I think you’ll find most of the colognes on this list would probably best serve you during the cooler months of the year.  I have included 8 selections on this list and of course there are more out there but I feel that these are the best of the bunch.

Vanilla Colognes: What are the Best Perfumes for Men?

Top Luxury Vanilla Fragrance

Creed Sublime Vanille Cologne for Men 8.4 oz Eau De Parfum– So, let’s start out with this hyper-expensive entry from Creed. Sublime Vanille has one of, if not, the best vanilla notes that I have ever smelled in a fragrance. It’s fantastic.

It’s sweet and creamy, mixed with tonka bean during the dry down period. Sublime Vanille opens with citrus notes, which gives it a nice orange creamsicle vibe.

The citrus note fades a bit as it moves on and there is an emergence of a soft musk note which adds depth to the composition. Sublime Vanille is more of a unisex scent and once it gets going, it’s pretty linear in its aroma throughout the rest of the wear.

This Creed is soft and airy, good for casual or dressed up styles. Again, this one is a high end scent, but the vanilla doesn’t get much better (if at all) than what’s in here. Here is my full wear review.

Best Overall Cologne with a Vanilla Led Blend

Giorgio Armani Code Absolu EDP Eau de Parfum For Men 3.7oz– Code Absolu has become my favorite issuance from this Armani line. The vanilla, comes along heavier later in the wear, and is joined by a host of smooth and spicy ingredients.

Code Absolu opens up with nutmeg, rum, suede, and tonka bean. There is also a hint of citrus and crisp apple, in the background. The spice of the nutmeg is dominant for a few minutes, before the suede and tonka bean really take over.

The fresh spice here is great, nutmeg and rum, are surprisingly great together. The fruit notes, are also just strong enough, to prevent it being a completely dark fragrance.

This one is fresh, warm, with a nice sweetness from vanilla and tonka bean. The projection is strong, but not absurdly so, and the longevity consistently hits 10+ hours, on my skin. Code Absolu Full Review

Top Nightlife/Youthful Vanilla Blend

Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male Eau de Toilette Intense 40ml Spray– Originally, I had Le Male, on this list. However, that was before the release of Ultra Male by Jean Paul Gaultier. This flanker fragrance to the original, takes what was great about it, and does it even better.

A warm and spicy aroma highlighted by vanilla and pear notes, which gives it a sweet and candy-like edge. I have a full bottle of Ultra Male and it is a fragrance that I wore pretty much all winter in 2018.

The mint and cinnamon combination adds a very nice spice to the uber sweet arrangement. This JPG scent delivers very good sillage and I’ve always gotten around 9 hours of solid wear from it. This is a colder weather scent, that is sexy, and built for the nightlife. Ultra Male is great, upbeat, and a worthy successor to the original Le Male. Ultra Male Full Review

Best Vanilla and Tobacco Blend

TOM FORD Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum 50 ML(1.7 OZ)– A high performing giant in the world of fragrance. Tobacco Vanille is obviously highlighted by those two notes, but it’s excellent blend of sweetness and spiciness is what really sets it apart.

Expensive? Yes, but it delivers an experience that is all its own. This is masculine, refined, and a fragrance that really shines in the winter time.

Best Daily Wear Designer Vanilla

Pi By Givenchy For Men. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.3 Ounces– A sweet yet woody fragrance with vanilla and almond notes. It has a fresh and somewhat powdery dry down with the tonka bean note and a resinous benzoin.

Pi can be a great go to fragrance for a guy who wants something affordable that can be worn every day (outside of the hottest months). What I really like about this Givenchy cologne, is it’s subtle earthiness and herbal qualities that lie just underneath the vanilla sweetness.

Pi is a rich and very cozy scent to wear on the coldest days. It’s sensual powdered dry down and that great little almond addition, always seem to draw complements. It has been around for a few decades at this point and still has legions of fans, who swear by the power of Pi.

Great Exotic Use of Vanilla

Opium By Yves Saint Laurent For Men. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.3 Ounces
A spicy and oriental type of fragrance which is soothed by the vanilla note that plays a supporting role to the anise and peppery elements. Solid performer and one of the first colognes I ever bought.

There are those warm sort of smoky elements that create an interesting take on the usual, sugary kind of vanilla colognes.

It’s profile overall, is that of the orient. Opium is mysterious and has a sort of ancient charm to the aroma, its resinous and spicy. The whole thing envelopes you skin and the vanilla note is in the heart of it all. I wish that I had more of my vintage bottle of this Yves Saint Laurent classic. My Opium Pour Homme Review

The Easy to Wear, Crowd Pleaser

Hugo Boss Men’s Boss No. 6 Eau de Toilette Natural Spray, 3.3 fl. oz.

A moderate fragrance with woodsy notes that is great for casual wear. The apple, cinnamon, and vanilla give Boss No. 6 a sweet yet crisp aroma. This is a good one for those who want a vanilla based scent that is blended with other notes and can be worn as an everyday sort of cologne.

Boss No. 6 is a fairly inexpensive choice and has a gourmand sensability. Its sweetness is like that of baked goods: warm and tasty. The wood notes emerge led by sandalwood and mahogany to give this Hugo Boss scent, more masculine depth.

It all comes together as light, a bit powdery, and spicy cologne with that lovable vanilla note sitting in the thick of it. Boss No. 6 Review

Awesome Sweet Smelling Vanilla Perfume

Acqua Di Parma Blue Mediterraneo Mandorlo Di Sicilia Eau de Toilette Spray, 5 Ounce–  Almond and vanilla are paired to create a warm and lightly enveloping aroma, that has a sweet candy-like quality. Mandorlo di Sicilia is a unisex scent, but can be a great colder weather wear for men.

This one reminds me of these little root beer candies, that I ate sometimes, as a child. Orange, almond, and the vanilla come together to give it a sweet, somewhat nutty, fizziness.

Akin to carbonation. Mandorlo is fresh and dries down, mostly as vanilla, with a powdered sugar quality. The sillage is fairly light, but it can last for 6-7 hours, on my skin.  My Full Review is Here

7 Best Rose Scented Colognes for Men

Right off the bat, I have to say that I am not personally a fan of rose. I don’t hate it, but it’s really not my thing. However, I can appreciate the note when used in a fragrance correctly. Much in the same way, I hate overused oud notes, but some of my favorite colognes have that as an ingredient. It can be done well and this list is all about appreciating those scents that feature the rose note prominently. Now, there are some unisex scents on the list and one where the rose is more of a support player. That being said, I selected 7 fragrances, so there should be something for just about every taste.

Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin Eau de Parfum Spray for Women, 1.6 Ounce– Fresh green rose with a hint of musky spice and honey. This is a unisex fragrance with a cold metallic feel that reminds me somewhat of Hugo Red, in that regard. Good longevity.

UNGARO III Pour Homme Classic Version for Men Eau De Toilette Spray 1.7 oz / 50 ml– Rose, meet vodka and leather. Doesn’t sound great? Well, it is. This early 90s release from Ungaro is sexy and smooth with an interesting progression of notes including lavender and some citruses.

Cartier Declaration D’un Soir Eau de Toilette Spray for Men, 3.3 Ounce– Rose with sandalwood and pepper. This has the rose note yet manages to remain a masculine scent through and through. My Declaration D’un Soir Review

EGOISTE POUR HOMME Eau De Toilette Spray FOR MEN 3.4 Oz / 100 ml– Rose isn’t the main attraction necessarily in this Chanel gem, but it is one of the main players. The floral is understated by creates a wonderful contrast between the cinnamon spice and familiar sandalwood notes. A classic fragrance.

PORTRAIT OF A LADY by FREDERIC MALLE 1.7oz/50ml– Yes, it is a women’s perfume. However, for the right person it is an intriguing ‘rose’ option. Why? The smoky incense and patchouli, give it a rough and dirty feel, that can really stand out. Careful, this one is a bomb, so don’t over spray.

Potion Royal Black Eau de Parfum Spray 100ml by DSQUARED2– Rose, incense, oud, and leather. Dark, rich, and hyper-masculine. Potion Royal Black is smoky and leathery with that added rose element that really makes this a unique scent. Less incense than the above, Portrait of a Lady, but more of a tobacco/leather blend.

AMOUAGE Lyric Men’s Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.4 fl. oz.– Setting aside my own personal dislike of just about every Amouage scent that I’ve tried, many people do seem to dig Lyric Man. The rose note is met with citrus and the usual oriental spices of this brand. Like their other colognes, this one is loud and long-lasting.
