5 Perfumes Similar to Gypsy Water

Gypsy Water is one of the best sellers from Byredo and among my favorite from the brand, as well. With that popularity and its high price, there is a market for fragrances which smell close to or have a similar style to the perfume. On this page, I’m going to keep my running update of scents which can do the job. Some are just similar in style while others try to use the same formula as Gypsy Water.

What Perfumes Smell Similar to Gypsy Water?

A Citrus Option

Colette by Tocca– Colette isn’t among my favorite from Tocca, but it does have more than a passing resemblance to Gypsy Water. It’s not completely comparable, has more citrus, less of the woodiness of our target…with plenty of overlap in notes.

Juniper, citrus, sandalwood, vanilla, amber are the commonalities and the ingredients that have some of the heaviest weighting between these two perfumes.

I do like the citrus opening here, it opens up into something that is a bit sweet and get creamier, which comes across very well. Later, the violet note comes in a bit more, and Colette has more of a powdery finish.

Less woody and none of the smoke of Gypsy Water, but there is plenty in this one to give you a close experience to the Byredo.

The Closer Option

Gypsies Elixir by Dua– Gypsies Elixir is the potential doppelganger from The Dua Brand. They always have newer fragrances that are similar to the popular originals. Most of the time, they’re pretty darn close.

I’ve gotten fragrances from them duping: Aventus, Allure Edition Blanche, and Lost Cherry. All of which have been about 85+% as close to the original inspired formulation.

With Gypsies Elixir? I haven’t tried it out, but for around $60 per bottle (they almost always have discount codes on the site, so, even cheaper than $60) and their track record, it’s worth a shot.

Another Inspiration

Morning Rain by Oakcha– Here’s another ‘inspired by’ fragrance option to give one a choice other than the Dua version. Morning Rain starts off with that juniper, bergamot, pepper, and lemon while exuding the pine needles and orris of the Byredo.

All of this inspired by versions of Gypsy Water seem to be around the same price, so, it’s kind of whichever you prefer to try first.

Morning Rain seems to be popular and has overwhelmingly positive reviews. You can also buy it as part of a sample set, if you’d want to try other scents from Oakcha.

Water Extrait

Bohemian Water by ALT Fragrances– This is the third and latest ‘inspired’ perfume of Gypsy Water that I’ve found, this time from ALT fragrances. I’ve had some good experiences with them in the past, so I’m sure this one is more than likely up to par as well.

As of now, ALT has 1 or 2 ounce bottle sizes, to give you a couple of options. If they got the weightings of the notes close to correct, there should be no issue here either.

Sweet, Creamy, and Pine

Lake by Rosie Jane– Lake is an interesting one, that’s like 75-ish percent Gypsy Water blended with Sublime Vanille by Creed.

You get the pine notes of Gypsy Water with this one, sandalwood, but none of the juniper. The citrus is amped up which gives you the similarities to the Creed scent. The vanilla is present throughout, just not the same kind of ice cream level as Sublime Vanille.

The latter stages, probably have a greater resemblance to Gypsy Water. That’s when some of the citrus has burned off and the woody notes take a firm grasp of their starring role. Very nice and delicious perfume. Performance is okay, just not one of its strengths.

8 Perfumes that Smell Similar to Mojave Ghost

Mojave Ghost is an extremely popular option from Byredo and one that has a rather unique aroma versus much of what is offered up today. The downside for many, is the price of the Byredo scent.

For others, they want something that smells similar or at least in the same ballpark, while still being different from Ghost. On this page, I will keep updated with a list of potential alternative options to this perfume.

What Fragrances Smell Similar to Byredo Mojave Ghost?

Mojave Sand by The Dua Brand– So, Mojave Sand is Dua’s ‘inspired’ version of the Mojave Ghost formula.

Now, I can’t personally speak to whether or not that they accomplished in matching the right scent to be a great alternative to the Byredo, since I haven’t tried this one out. However, I have tried plenty of other perfumes from this brand and they usually get it pretty darn close. The reviews are also positive, in this regard.

If you want a cheaper alternative to Ghost, this is one that you should consider.

Desert Glass by Oakcha– Here’s another ‘inspired’ option that I’ve found of Ghost. Between this and the Dua perfume above, those who want a very close aroma to the Byredo, seem to have things covered.

I don’t have any experience with this brand’s fragrances, as of yet. So, I can’t vouch for their quality. But, they’ve got a ton of positive reviews, and Mojave Ghost’s scent isn’t overly difficult to get close to.

They have two sizes available, currently starting at $30 (as of writing). Not too much risk in giving Desert Glass a try.

Guess 1981– Guess 1981 does present you with another cheaper option, but this one isn’t as on target as the Dua in terms of trying to smell like Mojave.

Though, this one has plenty of overlap. The sapodilla isn’t here in the Guess, nor is the magnolia. In 1981, you get a nice sparkling pear note to start things off and a greater use of the violet note throughout.

Less greenish floral, this one also strikes me as more powdery. Muskier than the Byredo, while still utilizing that musk mallow note found in Mojave. The wood isn’t much of a factor with Guess. It supposedly has cedar too, just not really getting much, if any.

Still, this is a really solid cheapie, giving you much of what you get with Mojave Ghost…just taken to a somewhat different end point.

Eclat de Fleurs by Lanvin– This one is closer to Chanel Eau Tendre (listed below), so don’t expect a massive overlap with Ghost.

Eclat de Fleurs moves away from the muskiness and woodiness, giving you instead a more floral clean representation. Plus, you get another use of pear, as in the Guess scent listed above.

More of a light floral with elements of soapiness thanks to the jasmine and limited musk. But, the freesia note really leads the way in this Lanvin perfume. Fruity floral to start, more floral musky in the end.

I’d say that this is connected distantly to Ghost. Like on a chain between the three perfumes it would go: Ghost-Eau Tendre-Eclat.

Santal Glow by Zara– Santal Glow is now discontinued. At least for now, since I cannot find a bottle on Zara’s website anymore.

Yet, this deserves a spot on the list, as it is another one that gets very close to what we want. It’s not exact, but a strong sandalwood and heavier use of a powdery violet note. Soft, comforting, and clean.

The sapodilla isn’t there, so don’t expect the fruity touch or much of any sweetness. As the name suggests, sandalwood is a major player here. Actually, it’s more about the violet note in terms of weighting, and there isn’t any cedar.

If you can find a cheap bottle, it’s worth picking up. I wouldn’t overpay, otherwise. Just get the Dua or Mojave itself.

Nirvana French Grey– Nirvana French Grey is definitely not a 1 to 1 match with Mojave Ghost. But, there are similar elements here that make it worthwhile to check out, as sort of a ‘distant cousin’ to our target.

This has a sweetness, muskiness, and citrus elements to it that overlap with the Byredo…just in a more heavily weighted version. French Grey is a simple mix of neroli, lavender, and musk. It’s simple and stripped down.

French Grey is a different floral blend, producing a soapy and somewhat reminiscent result to the Byredo. Again, not the one that you want if you want an ‘inspired version’ of Mojave, but a very likeable perfume that should bring one plenty of joy to wear.

Chance Eau Tendre– The Eau Tendre fragrances aren’t exactly like our target, but share plenty of style. The base of cedar and amber is the same, the floral composition features different notes, and the Chanel is less woody.

That being said, if you want something along the same lines arranged differently Eau Tendre can be a great option. I actually like the EDT better, as a fresher more citrus heavy composition.

Though, either the EDP or EDT is an easy to wear and versatile perfume for those who enjoy what the Byredo scent has to offer.

Memoire d’une Odeur by Gucci– This is another one that I feel is pretty similar in style, but not particularly in how it smells. Both are unique and this one has a lighter feel to it.

Memoire and Mojave Ghost are both clean-ish, soapy, woody, musky, floral fragrances. They just approach things from different angles. With this Gucci fragrance, you get a greener and a slightly bitter aroma up top. Bitter almond mixed with a chamomile note, that can give Memoire a tea-like aroma.

It settles into something with more musk and jasmine. Along with, cedar and sandalwood in the base which matches up with the Byredo fragrance. Again, if you’re looking for something that’s a dead ringer for Mojave, this won’t be it. But, I do think if you enjoy one, there’s a good chance that you’ll like the other.

9 Best Smelling Armaf Colognes

Armaf is a designer, which certainly knows how to bring the quality, for an extremely affordable price. Yes, many of its scents are essentially cheaper versions of well known scents. However, they do indeed have some more unique original fragrances, as well. In this post, I wanted to give 9 perfumes for men, which could be considered the best of Armaf.

There are many more worthwhile colognes, but this should be a great starting place for those looking to get into this brand’s catalog.

What are the Best Armaf Colognes for Men?

Clean Green Floral

ARMAF TRES NUIT 3.4 EAU DE TOILETTE SPRAY FOR MEN— Tres Nuit has a similar aroma to Cool Water, while taking a much more floral approach, to get there. Iris, violet, and lemon verbena, are highlights of this fragrance which come together to create a fairly solid dupe of our target scent. This one has a more powdery finish and less of the soapy sandalwood.

It is fresh and probably a smoother interpretation, of this sort of style. A very nice lemon fragrance, with sandalwood, and the powdery floral notes. Another one, which lacks the aquatic element. Still, a very nice wear for the price.

Bleu Fragrance

Armaf Tag Him 3.4 Eau De Toilette Spray for MenTag Him has a very heavy overlap with the ingredients of the Bleu de Chanel, and thus, shares quite a close aroma with it. The citrus, ginger, mint, cedar, pink pepper, vetiver, and sandalwood are all here.

Is this Armaf, an exact replica of BdC? Not entirely, but it does occupy a similar space, and can do wonders at this price point.

You don’t get the same quality or nuance, this is a nice citrus with spice, and without that incense smokiness of Bleu. Not as much depth or layered spice effect, but still a good overall wear.

Radical Kick

Radical Brown by Armaf– I do want to include some that aren’t just Club de Nuit and Tres Nuit flankers or special editions. Radical Brown is actually a very nice fragrance that utilizes tobacco and spice to great effect.

That opening has a great kick of mostly cinnamon, but with some pepper and other spice. This will smoothen out, as you get out of that beginning act, with the inclusion of amber and labdanum. This pairs well with that rich pipe tobacco creating a warm embrace that hugs your skin.

The aroma does have a cherry sort of aroma here. Not sure if that’s actually a note or not, but it does draw comparisons with the various Guerlain scents. Though, it’s not really the same to my nose. Somewhat related, but Radical Brown doesn’t quite try to be exactly like anything.

The Dior Dupe

F Armaf Ventana Pour Homme Eau De Parfum Spray for Men, 3.4 Fluid OunceIf you want something similar to Dior’s Sauvage, down market, Ventana by Armaf is a really good affordable option. Ventana has a spicy quality to it, but definitely not the same level of pepper intensity as our comparison.

This Armaf has a fruitier open with a nice amount of lavender. You get grapefruit and a light mandarin, with woody notes, and a weaker amber.

Ventana isn’t as much of a sillage beast, as what we’re trying to replace, but it does have very good performance. Plus, after the first hour it smells very very close to Sauvage, all for under $30.

Nightlife Scent

Armaf Club de Nuit Man Eau de Toilette Spray 3.6 OunceClub de Nuit is a really good value play. This one often gets compared to 1 Million, it isn’t as sweet, but has an amber-laden profile.

That being said, it isn’t a super heavy spiced cologne, but it is there. It has a soft powdery quality at times, during the dry down, with a nice touch of leather. Club de Nuit has amazing performance for this price range and is an obvious choice for younger men who want a nightlife sort of cologne.

Most Popular Armaf Cologne

Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man EDT Men New in Box, 3.6 Fl Oz This is the best-selling offering from Armaf, and that is likely because of it resemblance to, Creed’s Aventus. I totally understand the comparison, which is definitely intentional.

Between the two, Club de Nuit Intense is much heavier with lemon, than the Creed is, and doesn’t have the same level of pineapple. Also, while it does share the birch note, Aventus always struck me as a much drier scent with a heavier smoky quality.

Both are still present in Club Intense, just not to the same extent. Performance wise, this Armaf is pretty top notch.

Fresh Lyrics

Tres Nuit Lyric– A flanker of Tres Nuit, that keeps the same fresh and somewhat aquatic style, that does favor Acqua di Gio Profondo. It starts off fresher and more aquatic than that one, with a greenish cypress heavy style in the dry down.

The opening is pretty good, with the citrus and aquatic notes. Rosemary gives it a fresh spiciness. Same notes as Profondo, just not exactly the same. The transition into the middle act and the dry down is when Lyric is at its best. Still has the remnants of the aquatic aspects, but calmer with the lavender influence.

Performance here is fine, just nothing amazing, when compared with some others from this brand. Good value, however.

Clean Powder with an Edge

Armaf Voyage Perfume EDP 100 ML For MenVoyage is a clean and somewhat spicy fragrance with lavender and iris providing a calming powdery quality. Voyage has a nice dose of grapefruit, up top, and it is joined by a spiced trio of cinnamon, sage, and a very light cardamom.

The cardamom is later joined by tonka bean, which gives Voyage its warmer and enveloping qualities. That of course, plays very well off of the fresh spice and purely clean citrus.

Very well put together, all around, and a nice scent that can venture into most climates (except the heat of summer).

Dark Sweet and Spice

Armaf Signature Night 3.4 oz Eau De Parfum Spray for MenA fragrance that is in the same family as fragrances like, Man in Black and Spicebomb. Closer to Man in Black, without the heavy rum opening, and with less spice.

This is smoother, a bit sweeter, and has a powdery iris note which is a great addition.

I love the fragrance of Man in Black, so, Signature Night was naturally going to be a scent that I enjoy. This is the lighter and less in your face version of the Bvlgari cologne, but still has enough of the appealing spiciness, to make it worthwhile.

9 Fragrances Similar to Coco Mademoiselle

Coco Mademoiselle has been a top seller for two decades now, even at Chanel prices. However, as time goes on there are of course going to be those trying to mimic its success or just create a somewhat similar fragrance. In this post, I want to highlight 9 fragrance options that offer a cheaper comparable smell to Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel.

Perfumes Close to Coco Mademoiselle

The First Inspiration

Woody Oakmoss by Dossier– If you want a cheaper alternative, that’s inspired by the scent of Coco Mademoiselle, this and the next are what you want to go with.

This is one of the Dossier’s that I haven’t tried out, but others from the brand do inspire the confidence that the match will be very near…or you can try the Fragrenza below, if not.

In either case, my biggest concern would be matching the right tone with the citrus notes. That’s a big factor and easy to screw up, by just throwing a screeching citrus in the blend. But, by the reviews on their site, it doesn’t seem to be the case with the Dossier. For the current, $29, it’s worth giving a shot.

Live the Fantasy

Pompeii Fantasy by Fragrenza– Here’s another ‘inspired by’ option, this time from Fragrenza. I haven’t tried this one in particular from the brand, but I did buy a number of samples of other perfumes from them and they really did come close to the scents that gave them inspiration.

Here, you get the bold mandarin and bergamot citrus blend to kick things off. Mimosa, orange blossom, jasmine, and patchouli follow. So, about what you’re looking for. Usually with these sorts of blends, the weightings of the notes might be slightly off, but come extremely close to matching.

Fragrenza at least comes up with a thematic storyline with their blend, “Imagine yourself at an opulent and enchanting masquerade ball in the heart of ancient Pompeii.”  The good news, is their scents are very affordable, and you can even pick up an even cheaper 3 mL sample size.

The Third

Serene by Alexandria– Here’s a third inspired scent that presents a take on the Coco Mademoiselle structure, “Serene is a soft floral fragrance that captivates your senses and transports you to a world of utter bliss.”

I like the Alexandria fragrances that I’ve tried out and this one is also priced (as of writing) at $39.99 for the smallest size. But, they have three options, if you happen to want to size up. Also, their sample pack allows you to try 7 of their perfumes, for about the same price.

Mimosa, jasmine, rose, orange, and all of the other notes are here. Another scent that I’ve found since my initial posting, that I figured I’d update the list with.

Super Cheap Glamour

Suddenly Madam Glamour Eau De Parfum for Women 50ml New Sealed If you want a cheap comparable scent, Suddenly Madam Glamour is going to be the closest experience to our target.

Now, the performance and sillage aren’t going to be to the same level, but when you’re paying around $15 or so…who cares?

The patchouli seems a bit stronger in this one (which is closer to Mademoiselle Intense) and probably a stronger vanilla aroma. Though, all in all it gets the weightings in the formulations pretty darn close.

A Take On Intense

Club de Nuit by Armaf– This women’s version of Club de Nuit leans more towards Coco Mademoiselle Intense in terms of how it smells, but sort of splits the difference between the two.

Like Intense, this one goes heavier on the patchouli note, than the original Coco Mademoiselle. However, Club de Nuit, is also not exactly like either of them. The rose note is pretty heavy in this one, more so than the Chanel.

Feels like less of a vanilla influence to soften up the notes as well. It’s high enough quality and Armaf supplies good performance with their perfumes. It won’t be a complete one to one match, just one that brings a lot of the same sort of style.

Another Cheap Tutu

Milton-Lloyd Cosmetics | Miss Tutu | Parfum De Toilette | Spray for Women | Chypre Fruity Scent | 1.7 oz– Milton Lloyd usually has pretty good inspirations of popular designer scents and Miss Tutu is the one for our target scent.

This one gets the floral notes better than Madame Glamour. A bit more sheer than the Chanel, but it has solid performance. Really, between this the one listed above, you’ve got two dirt cheap options for under $30 or so combined.

The Dior Alternative

Christian Dior Miss Dior, 50ml/1.7 oz.– I personally like Coco Mademoiselle better than its similar Miss Dior option, but it is a solid alternative at a somewhat more reasonable price.

Miss Dior or the Cherie variation (or whatever Dior is calling it now) features a blood orange (and lemon?) top note with a stronger use of patchouli and a greater rose note. The jasmine is also an ingredient here, just not to the same extent.

Miss Dior isn’t as strong, but has some nice depth provided by a warm pink pepper note. Again, a lighter sillage, but I still get 8 hours from Miss Dior. Miss Dior (Cherie) Review

Bit of This, Bit of That

Perry Ellis Love Eau de Parfum Spray for Women, 3.4 Ounce Love by Perry Ellis has similarities to both Chanel Chance and Coco Mademoiselle. It leans to the Chance side of things, but has enough going for it to be on this list, and is affordable.

This is a bit heavier on the spices, while still retaining a great citrus aroma. The rose is the similar floral with base notes overlapping (musk, vanilla, and patchouli). Plus, that opening orange note, just not to the same level.

Love has a somewhat light projection once it settles. However, the performance overall is good and it’ll last for most (if not all) of a workday.

An Expensive Similarity

Darcy by Parfums de Marly– First off, I don’t think this is nearly the same as Coco Mademoiselle, as some might make it out to be. Quite similar in style with some overlap in the notes (mainly citrus and patchouli).

That being the case, I also don’t think this PdM fragrance is as good as the Chanel either. That might not be a problem if it were cheaper, but this can be even more expensive.

The pros? The citrus here is smooth and the patchouli is rather good too, if you don’t want something that feels too earthy/dirty.

It’s not too intense and becomes muskier and soapier in the dry down. Darcy is a pretty good perfume at a lofty price point. But, I’ll add it to the list, as some might want to check it out.

6 Fragrances Similar to Polo Red

Polo Red has been a very popular release from Ralph Lauren. It has spawned multiple flanker fragrances and remains among their best sellers, many years after it came out. As a result, many guys want to find a cologne that smells similar, is a clone, or just a cheaper alternative to wear. In this post, I want to give four options that can best try to duplicate the aroma and style, one gets from Polo Red.

What Colognes Smell Like or are Alternatives to Polo Red?

Higher Quality Inspired Creation

Bet on Red by Dua– The next entry on the list is the cheapeast alternative, that tries to mimic the scent of Polo Red. However, this one from Dua is of higher quality and comes closer to actually accomplishing that feat (while still costing less than the Ralph Lauren).

It still comes at you with the same opening of tart cranberry and citrus notes. It’s a sweet tart sort of aroma. Then, you’ll get the signature coffee note surrounded by amber and some of that sage heart.

As of right now, this is probably the best available alternative that smells almost entirely the same as what we’re looking for. Other entries on the list have different qualities and similarities that might interest you. This one, hits the same beats as Polo Red.

Super Cheap Smell Alike

Red Classic Match, version of Polo Red Eau de Toilette Spray for Men– Classic Match fragrances are designed to be super cheap alternatives to original designer colognes. This is the Polo Red version, that bears a striking resemblance, but not an exact copy of our target. Nonetheless, you can get a bottle for under $10, and simulate most of what you get from the Ralph Lauren fragrance.

Intense Flanker

Polo Red Intense by Ralph Lauren for Men 4.2oz Eau de Parfum Spray– Red Intense is the closest smelling flanker fragrance, to the original Polo Red. Red Intense starts off with a similar cranberry and citrus blend.

However, it also includes more coffee and spices, such as sage. It is a fresher version of this scent, still sweet, but with more warmth (amber) and spice. Plus, a very nice leather not. This one has better sillage and performance, than the original. Polo Red Intense Review

Similar Style Designer Wear

Play by Givenchy for Men, Eau de Toilette Spray, 1.7 Ounce– Givenchy Play isn’t a duplicate for Polo Red, but it does have a similar style. It contains the same citrus notes (just no cranberry), along with coffee.

I actually preferred Play Intense, to this one, but Play has more similarities to Polo Red. Givenchy’s Play, has been discontinued, but you can still pick up bottles online. Again, not a clone, but sits in the same category as Red.

Update: The bottles that are left, are generally way too expensive to be worth it anymore.

Sweeter Polo Red Alternative

Davidoff Davidoff The brilliant game by davidoff for men – 2 Ounce edt spray, 2 Ounce– The Brilliant Game from Davidoff, is a pretty close alternative to Polo Red, in how it presents itself. It has a similar top of citrus and a cranberry like aroma, but adds a boozy liquor mixture with it, which gives the cologne a sort of fizziness.

Then, it turns to sweet caramel and cream tonka bean during the latter stages. Very warm and attractive scent, that delivers much of what you get with the Polo.

Red Ferrari

Man in Red by Ferrari– Sweet apple and tart plum give this one a really fruity sensation that hits in the same ballpark as Polo Red. Though, it’s not at all identical. It’s gives me shades of Scuderia Red, Guess Seductive, and Polo Red.

Pink pepper gives you some warmth and spice. No coffee or amber in this one. But, you get a creaminess from tonka bean and vanilla, while the apple, citrus, and tart provide that same type of style as the Polo.

It’s a decent alternative or one to try, if you can get it at a cheaper price. Personally, I think Polo Red is better than this one, but it can provide some value too. Man in Red Review
