9 Best Leather Scented Colognes for Men

Leather is a common note in men’s fragrances which helps to give it a masculine air that is both smooth and crisp. Not everyone is a fan of this kind of scent but when it is done well, the result can be incredibly amazing.

In this post, I want to explore some options for guys who enjoy a good leather note being featured prominently in their colognes. This is by no means an exhaustive list but one which can definitely help point one in the right direction searching for the best leather fragrance.

Favorite Smelling Leather Colognes for Men

The Classic Tom Ford

Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Eau De Parfume Spray for Men, 1.7 Ounce
I’ll start things off with this higher priced option from Tom Ford. This one is bold, heavy, and quite leathery in its presentation.

This one isn’t for everybody, but for those who enjoy leather notes in their fragrances, Tuscan Leather (review here) shines, with amazing performance and longevity.

Tuscan Leather grows darker, warmer, and deeper with amber and a bit of smokiness. Overall, this is a fabulous fragrance, with a great smell and performance.

Vanilla Infusion

Vanille Leather by BDK– This one has a lot of facets and the leather note shares the space with a rich and creamy vanilla note.

Still, the leather accord playing off of that vanilla and a somewhat buttery yet powdery orris note actually works extremely well.

It’s not too sweet, has a smokiness, and a floral heart with some prominent orange blossom and slight tuberose, at times. This is very much a unisex scent, so, if you want a pure motor cycle jacket leather, this isn’t it.

The performance is also very good, not going to choke out a room, but Vanille Leather will stick around for longer than a typical work day. 

 

 

Absolu Boss

Boss Bottled Absolu by Hugo Boss– Boss Bottled Absolu is one that was released by the brand in 2024 and it’s really established itself as a favorite already, both for the general public and fans of this note.

Here we get leather joined by incense, some early sweetness, and a nice blend of spice and woods. That davana, gives it the sweetness, maybe with some other unlisted note.

But, myrrh and incense together create a warm balsamic, resinous, and smoky accord here in Boss Bottled Absolu. Sort of earthy and blended beyond just being a pure leather cologne, but one well worth checking out.

Great, long-lasting performance, with enough power while not being obnoxious about it. 

 

Smooth, Dry Leather

John Varvatos FOR MEN by John Varvatos – 2.5 oz EDT Spray– Adding this one to the mix, as another affordable cologne option for those who are looking for our target note. 

Fresh leather with a bit of fruit thrown in such as dates and lime, at the beginning . Smooth, fresh, and inviting.

The leather is put together with a warm and enveloping amber note, which sits on top of a woody base.

Very nice development over the life of this cologne. At times, it is sweet, then it becomes dry, and finally a crispy spice. A great go to scent for daily wear.

The Moon Above

The Moon by Frederic Malle– Just to get it out of the way, this both hyper expensive, and fairly niche as to its target audience. Like $500+ for a small bottle, expensive.

Moving on to the fragrance itself, this is a rose and oud tinged leather perfume. Usually, something that I personally don’t enjoy very much. In this blend? The oud is tame and the rose is more of a hint.

Now, the dry down is wear that beautiful leather note comes out in its full glory. Before you get there, you have a berry based fruity accord, the raspberry note being the most prominent. It’s fruity, it’s floral, woody, and then dries down into that leather centered scent.

For some, this will be their favorite from this entire list, and one that they want to save up for. If you can try it, do so. Though, you also may not vibe with it at all. 

 

 

Red Prive

Habit Rouge Rouge Prive by Guerlain– This Guerlain cologne is tougher to find nowadays, but this edition of Habit Rouge is a really good leather fragrance.

(If you can’t find this one, you can try these Guerlain’s also: Ideal Parfum and Ideal L’Intense)

What sets this one apart is the use of a bergamot citrus note that is the main pairing with our target ingredient.  Very juicy and sour up top.

Ginger and patchouli add to the mix early on, while the middle act has powdery hints from the floral notes.

The back end? Leather, the remaining bergamot, and some vanilla coming through as well. Personally, this one gets somewhat annoying to wear after a number of hours, but that opening act really is great. Rouge Prive review

 

My Favorite Tom Ford Leather Fragrance

Ombré Leather Eau de Parfum Spray, 1.7-oz.–Ombre Leather is unisex scent but leans more masculine, in my mind. This fragrance is very dry and warm, with leather being the main star.

I still prefer this one to the newer editions like Ombre Parfum.

However, it is joined by amber and moss, that play the background. The description by the marketing department at Tom Ford, describe this one, as taking a lot of cues from the arid landscape of the western United States.

Jasmine is another important part of Ombre Leather and it is shockingly good when put together with the leather in this fragrance. The leather is rich and very smooth, it really reminds me of a supple leather jacket.

The dry down period is mostly about the jasmine and leather notes, being at the forefront. Smooth, sweet, lightly floral, and with that subtle amber note hovering in the background. Ombre Leather review

Grassy Floral Leather 

Fahrenheit By Christian Dior For Men. Eau De Toilette Spray 6.8 Oz.
A classic from the 1980s that has as many fans as it does people who dislike it, it seems. Leather plays a major role in this manly scent.

Leather is prominent here, along with violet leaf, which brings about the famous ‘gasoline’ smell. Well, with honeysuckle and the violet leaf, being so heavy in the opening that’s what you get with this composition.

Nonetheless, it does settle down thereafter, and you get a floral accord consisting mostly of jasmine. This one still packs a punch, but isn’t the exact same, as it was back 30+ years ago. Another dry, grassy, and interesting use of leather. My Fahrenheit Review

Sweet with Saffron

Parfums de Marly Godolphin Men’s Edp Spray, 4.2 Ounce–Godolphin is a very enjoyable fragrance to my nose.  It opens with a blend of herbal notes and a hint of fruit. I mainly get a sense of saffron poking through.

However, the main note that comes into play is a smooth and beautiful leather that mixes with a woody base.

The leather note with the saffron is remarkably great. I was surprised when trying Godolphin out, how much I actually dug the scent. It’s invigorating to smell and has a layer of floral notes which allows the scent to have complexity and balance. Godolpin Review

I wanted to close out my comparisons of the current fragrances offered from Burberry’s Hero line of men’s colognes with the EDP and Parfum versions. I’ve spent some time testing both of these out and now I want to break down what the differences and advantages of each of them are.

How do they smell? Which lasts longer? Which Hero fragrance is the better buy?

Opening

The opening of Hero EDP is fresh, smokier, and surprisingly still has a sweetness to it. It stems from the olibanum, in this addition, which can give off a level of fruitiness to the aroma. Apparently, the grapefruit, found in the EDT version has been stripped out of it.

EDP has plenty of resinous amber influences here. The early stages are more of a fuzzy impression and resinous, with the olibanum and benzoin notes. Then, it becomes a cleaner, warmer, and more straightforward amber.

With Hero Parfum, there’s going to be a lot of cedar in the mix. This one is earthier, woodsy, with a pine/balsamic aroma from the amyris note up top.

The pine is similar to Hero EDP, but this fragrance has a different smell to my nose, than that one.

Warm, fresh/spice, dry, and woodsy character. To me, has an aroma that’s a lot like  Santal 33, but with cedar as the main attraction instead of sandalwood. No, it doesn’t have papyrus or anything like that, just really has a similar style.

Hero Parfum is darker and starts to take on a sweeter and more resinous smell, as we move along.

Which is better? I’m not super impressed by how either of them start off. Though, the eau de parfum doesn’t have an opening act that I really enjoy. Parfum is better here, but it’s not spectacular either.

Projection

The strange thing when I tested EDT and EDP together, is that, the eau de parfum didn’t seem to have any more power to it. Neither are weak, the EDP just couldn’t muster anything beyond the moderate to above average projection.

Parfum is an improvement over both of the previous editions. Hero Parfum isn’t a particularly heavy scent, but it does project itself well, while not being a complete beast with its strength.

Strong, before diminishing to something that still above average, hours into the wear. Obviously, it loses steam further along into it, but it’s a slow burn.

Edge: Parfum

Longevity

The eau de parfum lasted between 8 and 9.5 hours for me, each time that I’ve worn it. Not bad at all and pretty good versus many other designer scents out there.

The EDP doesn’t last nearly as long as Parfum. Which, will last on my skin for 10 hours at least, and seemingly well beyond that. I’m still not sure exactly when it quits, but the performance is great with this newer Hero fragrance.

Easy win.

Versatility

I don’t think there’s much of a difference here. Both are autumn and winter fragrances, with plenty of overlap.

Hero EDP might be better as a nightlife wear. While Parfum, has more of a mature profile with its woodiness. Neither is all that formal or anything. Stylish and nice to wear.

Overall Scent

Overall, which of these Burberry fragrances is better?

When I heard about Hero eau de parfum, I thought it might be a better version of the original EDT. But, when I tested it out, I didn’t enjoy it as much.

It’s got a good dry down. I like the mix of amber, cedar, smokiness, and the darker vibe that it puts out. The opening is weak and there’s nothing too compelling with EDP. It’s a decent enough scent, doesn’t smell bad, but doesn’t captivate me.

I will say, EDP might be more of a crowd pleaser than Parfum (though, EDT is the most versatile and pleasant), and could be a better choice for some guys.

Hero Parfum, on the other hand, is a better fragrance. I still like Hero EDT, the best, but this would be my second choice thus far in the series.

It’s not for everyone, but it is the more interesting fragrance. Fresh, earthy, and has a lot of cedar in the mix. I even get some slight powdery notes coming in, at times.

But, if you like the scent, you get great performance

At the higher price, I would try to test Hero Parfum out before you buy it, just to see if the scent works for you.

Favorite Burberry Fragrances for Him

Powdery Rose and Spice

BURBERRY Brit for Men Eau de Toilette, 1.7 fl. oz– Burberry Brit for Men is a super fresh and modern cologne. It has green outdoorsy elements blended with spice and a powdery finish. The invigorating spice is formed by the inclusion of ginger and nutmeg.

So, it isn’t a heavy animalistic kind of spice, but one that is upbeat and refined.

All of the notes in this cologne share the stage, and never seem to overpower one another, for too long. So, while there is a rose note, it remains subdued and adds to the overall composition. I

t opens up with its spicier notes with a light mandarin orange note. Ginger, nutmeg, and warm cardamom really provide a great freshness.

As it dries down, you will get more of a ‘green’ outdoorsy aroma with its cedar base, and a smooth powdery smell from the rose and tonka bean combo.

The sillage is in the range of moderate, but towards the light side of things. I get around 8 hours of wear, from this cologne.

Brit smells very good and is best in the colder parts of the year. I love to wear this during the crisp evening nights, when I want to be low key, but can still grab attention when someone is close enough. Masculine Tobacco Woods

BURBERRY London for Men Eau de Toilette , 1.7 fl. oz– London was my first Burberry cologne and its woody fragrance is probably the most masculine of the lot. Its base notes include mimosa, leather, tobacco, cinnamon leaves, and lavender.

This fragrance is probably best served as an evening wear option because of its sensual appeal. However, I used to daily wear this seasonally, back in college. Just with lighter sprays.

Like Brit, London is a colder weather scent. Although, I prefer to wear this during nights in autumn, versus winter for Brit. If Brit is fresh and green, London is deep and powerful.

While it has that nice spice and tobacco aroma, London still has its sweet side to prevent it from going too far into one-sidedness.

London opens up, at its spiciest, with that tobacco note surrounded by both pepper and cinnamon leaf. It also features a port wine ingredient at the top, to give the scent, an ever so slight booziness.

It can be very dry and earthy at times, with a certain masculine ruggedness. It has its refinement along with a wild undercurrent. The most prominent notes are the tobacco, cinnamon, and leather notes. Great stuff.

London starts off with a strong sillage, but ends up being pretty moderate. The longevity is good and this one is still so enjoyable to me, after all these years. Burberry London Review.  Burberry Brit vs London Comparison

A Touching Favorite

BURBERRY Touch for Men Eau de Toilette, 3.3 oz– Sexy and elegant are probably the two best words to describe Burberry Touch. It has a clean aroma highlighted by pepper and violet leaf. It’s sweet yet spicy and also has a creamy/powdery feeling just underneath it all.

The pepper spice, is most pronounced in the opening bit of time, much like in Burberry London.

During the dry down period, tonka bean and musk join up to give Touch a bit more character. It’s almost too simple in how this cologne presents itself and the changes are so subtle at times, that you almost cannot detect a difference.

Touch is a very versatile fragrance that is suitable for a wide variety of occasions and weather conditions. Really underrated stuff. Touch is a clean fragrance and even while being simple, is still unique from so many other colognes out on the market.

The latter stages, really give me a clean soapy/body wash sort of feeling, but more upscale than the average soap.

I cannot even think of one that smells quite like Burberry Touch, even after almost two decades since its release.

The sillage here, isn’t too strong, but the longevity is still quite good. This could easily be a daily wear or signature scent for guys, in the daytime.

Cooling Namesake

BURBERRY for Men Eau de Toilette, 3.3 fl.oz– Burberry cologne is the titular house fragrance from this design company. It also happens to be one of my favorite to wear on this list.

Burberry for Men isn’t as in your face as many other colognes on the market, but it allows it’s striking and refined aroma speak for itself.

It features a cool mint note, that provides that familiar fresh spice on top of a smooth sandalwood, and embedded within a warm amber. It is an interesting play between warmth and cold, throughout the wear.

This is all solidified by a smooth trio of sandalwood, lavender, and cedar. This forms the base of Burberry for Men and adds that woody masculine layer.

The mint, cedar, and amber are the stars at the beginning of the wear. The amber is warm, the mint is cold, and you get a dry freshness of the cedar wood. The bergamot citrus note, is lighter than that main trio, but does add a nice extra element into the mix.

Burberry for Men is a great option for a daily wear scent. I picked up another small bottle, some months back, and it’s still got good performance. Plus, you can usually find a full bottle at a discount from the retail price.

This has a more mature character and a moderate sillage. I’ve always felt that I could wear Burberry anywhere and it be an appropriate cologne for that occasion. It’s woody, fresh, and an intriguing fragrance that I always love catching a whiff of. My review and Burberry for Men vs Brit

Spiced Beats

BURBERRY The Beat Eau De Toilette for Men, 3.4 Fl. oz.– The Beat is highly fresh and sharp fragrance that is propelled forward by its great pepper note. This is joined by lemon to create quite an interesting pairing.

While simple, The Beat evolves, and eventually reveals a woody base that is dotted by violet, to add a floral element.

This is probably the most unique of the colognes featured on this list. While not overpowering, it has a solid sillage and longevity, and can fit in well as an everyday wear.

The Beat is dry and outdoorsy with that juicy lemon to give it a sharp clean balance. The pepper spice at the beginning can be pretty intense at times, but the dry down with the cool vetiver is a nice change of pace.

At times, in the middle of the wear, it can be sweeter rather than spicy. Then, when the vetiver and cedar fully kick in, it is a fresh and dry woodsy type of smell. The Beat is a good choice for casual daily wear, for most of the year.

It’s not really a nightlife scent at all, just a nice and rather simple sort of fragrance. It’s opening is pretty strong, but it does calm itself down, and has a decent but not amazing longevity.

The Best Mr. Burberry

Mr Burberry Indigo- The Mr. Burberry series was pretty much a complete miss for me, until I tried Indigo. The EDP version smelled really good but the performance was terrible.

Indigo doesn’t have insane performance, but it lasts much better on my skin with a still moderate sillage. It’s sort of got a combination between the aroma of the others in the series, mixed with Acqua di Gio, and a few other colognes.

It’s fresh, herbal, somewhat aquatic with an amber base. It opens up with the citrus coming through, that is paired with mostly the mint and rosemary notes. Then, sage will take over for the rosemary. Green while being juicy with the top fruits.

It’s not my favorite release from Burberry, but Mr Burberry Indigo is probably their best men’s release of the past five years. My Full Review

A New Hero

Hero EDT- The EDP version is also pretty interesting, with some nice smoky touches. It’s almost a toss up for me at times, between these two, but I’ll go with Hero EDT. The more time I spent with each, the more I preferred EDT.

I still need to grab some of this Burberry release for additional testing. But, from my experience with it thus far, it’s a very nice release from the brand.

Update: I bought a travel size and it is very likeable and super versatile, as a daily wear. It’s one of their best releases in 5+ years.

It’s fresh and woody, but not completely overpowering with the cedar note. Gives you a simple clean, that can be worn almost anytime. The bergamot citrus top, hangs around underneath the cedar for a long while, and gives Hero a spectacular brightness.

Juniper and some pepper spice come through for an aromatic finish. The pepper is noticeable at first, but fades rather quickly. Performance is a bit above average, not spectacular. Hero EDT Review

The Next Best Hero

Hero Parfum by Burberry– Updating here, I still like the EDT the best so far from the Burberry Hero line. However, I like the newer Parfum more than the EDP, and it deserves a spot on the list.

Some of you, may prefer this. Up top it’s earthy, woody, and balsamic. This is a very cedar heavy fragrance with a dry feeling throughout the wear. Fresh with spices and even some moments where you get a bit of a powder coming through.

Not a super powerful fragrance, but it gets the job done with its projection. Beyond that, Hero Parfum also lasted over ten hours on my skin, when I’ve tested it out.

There haven’t been too many releases from Burberry as of late, but this is a good one. Just not for everybody.

Hero is the popular line of men’s fragrances from Burberry. What started with an original EDT release, has now included an EDP, and a Parfum. I have tested out each of them and put these scents through their paces.

In this post, I want to focus on comparing the original EDT with Hero Parfum. Break down how each smells, performs, and which I think is the better buy from Burberry.

Opening

Hero EDT starts things off with a lightly spiced, citrusy aromatic tone. The citrus note isn’t overwhelming, but it does have a major role in the start. Along with, the ever-present cedar accord, which will really dominate the latter parts of the wear.

But, early, the cedar and juniper will pretty much split duties. Aromatic, but a touch sweet and quite fresh. Black pepper isn’t highly concentrated in the blend. However, I do think that it is a great addition to the citrus and woods.

With Hero Parfum, there’s going to be a lot of cedar in the mix. This one is earthier, woodsy, with a pine/balsamic aroma from the amyris note up top.

Projection

EDT starts out above average in its ability to project. It’s not a heavy fragrance, pretty moderate, but can get a decent sent trail going.

After the first hour, it’s middle of the road, before descending into a skin scent in the waning hours.

Hero Parfum isn’t a complete powerhouse, but the first few hours are strong on me. If I spray it on a shirt that I have laying around, the projection is quite good, and definitely gives you more than the EDT.

After that, it’s in the upper range of moderate. Never weak until the very end of the wear, on that is going to be noticeable on you throughout the day.

Edge: Hero Parfum

Longevity

Hero EDT is a solid performer, especially for an eau de toilette concentration. For me, it’s always gone 7-8 hours on skin before disappearing. A full work day, is about what it’s capable of.

However, Parfum takes this category. I’m not sure when it quits, but this newer release got me 10+ hours of wear out of it. Better than both of the previous entries in the series.

Burberry Hero Parfum is a really good performer. If you like the scent, you get your money’s worth for sure.

Versatility

Hero EDT can venture into the warmer days of the year, much better than Parfum. It’s they type of scent that can pretty much go year round. I wouldn’t go with it on the hottest or coldest days, but outside of that EDT is better at fitting in.

Parfum is better suited for autumn through early spring. It’s not so heavy that it’s a winter only scent or anything, I actually think it’ll be best to wear in the autumn.

Both of these scents can be daily wears, but I think that’s truer for EDT, at least for most people. I could see using Hero Parfum on a night out, when it is a bit crisp outside.

Not too much separation in this category, but I’ll say EDT has the edge.

Overall Scent

Overall, which of these two fragrances do I prefer?

While I think that Hero Parfum is an improvement over the EDP version, I still like the original Hero EDT most of all.

It’s a close call, but EDT is one that I have a slight preference for. Neither of these is a scent that I completely love.

Hero Parfum is a nice woody fragrance. Again, it strikes me as a more masculine and cedar-based Santal 33. Earthier, a bit fresher, without the same level of a powdery dry down.

Although, Parfum does have some powdery qualities here. Actually, I like Santal more than this, as the Le Labo works well on my skin.

With Hero EDT, I like the more varied mix of notes. Not just a mass of cedar, I also get citrus, juniper, and some spice from the black pepper.

Sure, it doesn’t have the same level of performance as Hero Parfum, but EDT is just more enjoyable for me to wear.

I’m not personally in the market to buy either one of these colognes, but the price difference is substantial. I’ve seen bottles of Hero EDT for well under $100 at discounters, and Parfum, I saw retail for $180.

Of course, you should still try Parfum out if you get a chance, to see how you feel about it. But, I think most people will be better served by picking up the original.

12 Best Tobacco Scented Colognes for Men

Tobacco has a long history as a cash crop in the United States, mostly for use in smoking products. However, while the smell of cigarettes can be really repulsive, the essence of the tobacco itself can be amazing when it is included in a fragrance.

Tobacco usually gives of an air of masculinity, warmth, and smoothness. In this post, I want to present to you twelve cologne options with prominent tobacco notes in their composition.

Favorite Tobacco Scents for Men

Luxury Tobacco Fragrance

PARFUMS de MARLY Herod, 4.2 fl. oz.–A luxury and pretty high end priced scent from French house, Parfums de Marly. The tobacco note found in Herod, is utterly amazing. Playing off of that are spices and a sweet vanilla note.

So, like Man in Black, we have cinnamon spice but also a dark pepper note. It’s spicy but smooth and there is a smoky aroma provided by incense, which permeates that composition. It dries down into a rich and resinous cologne, that is captivating and sexy.

Herod has a maturity and classiness to it and could fit into office wear much better than a fragrance, like Eros. Still, this one can garner the complements and has all day longevity. This is one of the sexiest men’s colognes, in my opinion.

Spicy, Coffee, Tobacco

Magenta Tanzanite by Armani– This one is unisex and some would say it leans feminine. To me, sure, but only slightly. However, this does have an interesting and deep use of the tobacco note, that its worth checking out for anyone.

Magenta Tanzanite kicks things off with a mass of spice. Early, it’s mainly about the cardamom, then that will shift more towards cinnamon. But, you also get a fresh ginger in there for even more.

Vanilla, myrrh, tonka bean, and coffee notes give this an interesting sweetness. It’s got elements similar to Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford (listed below) but this Armani absolutely does its own thing with more spice, a different tobacco scent, and that coffee note that really presents itself in the mid.

Note: The Dua Brand has their own inspired version of this called Purple Stone of Return, in case Armani discontinues Magenta.

Hookah Smoke

Smoking Hot by Kilian–  This is a newer entry to the list, that I’ve only gotten to try once, but I think it deserves a place on the list. Even if, it might not be for everyone.

Smoking Hot lives up to the name, giving you a definite smoky aroma, to go with the sweetish tobacco note. Apple and cinnamon are also present through much of the wear. Yes, some slight similarities with the Kilian Liquors perfumes (Angels’ and Apple Brandy). Not too many, though.

Yet, it’s sweetness never reaches the absolute levels of those two. Smooth and has a scent that hangs very nicely in the air around you. Later, some vanilla and light moss notes peak through, also.

Kind of too pricey for this one to really become a mainstream hit. However, for some people, this is going to be a great bet for their signature tobacco perfume.

Mass Appealing Option with Great Performance

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme Eau De Parfum Spray 50ml/1.7oz– While the name Spicebomb does carry a certain connotation as to exactly how it should smell, Spicebomb Extreme is actually a great tobacco rich fragrance for men.

This is a smoother and warmer fragrance, rather than a completely spicy cologne. It opens with our tobacco note, lavender, and rich vanilla. The cumin and cinnamon notes are there, but greatly toned down versus the original.

Not only does Extreme smell great, it actually lives up to the latter part of its name, in terms of performance. It is indeed extreme, with a strong sillage and seemingly never-ending longevity. It’s honestly, one of the longest lasting scents that I’ve reviewed. Spicebomb Extreme Review

Well-Known Designer Tobacco

TOM FORD Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum 50 ML(1.7 OZ)– A high performing giant in the world of fragrance. Tobacco Vanille is obviously highlighted by those two notes, but it’s excellent blend of sweetness and spiciness is what really sets it apart.

Expensive? Yes, but it delivers an experience that is all its own. This is masculine, refined, and a fragrance that really shines in the winter time. This Tom Ford beauty is dark and has a certain thickness to it. The tobacco note is great, like lightly smoked pipe tobacco/

This is another one, like Sublime Vanille, that features an absolutely divine vanilla note. It’s very realistic and smells utterly perfect to my nose. Add to the two main notes, you get a lovely cacao, fruits, and creamy tonka bean.

The scent is also quite dry and doesn’t have a ‘juicy’ fruit sensation. Overall, it is super sweet and spicy, while being a performance scent that will last and project for ages. Tobacco Vanille Review

Dark, Spicy, and Woody

BURBERRY London for Men Eau de Toilette, 3.3 fl. oz
A fresh and spicy blend of woodsy notes and tobacco. Probably the most masculine of the popular Burberry scents and one which is fantastic in the autumn.

Burberry London starts off with that sweet and warm tobacco note and is paired with cinnamon for that spiced kick.

This cologne is dry and earthy at times with the oak moss and calming lavender note. However, the main attractions are the tobacco, leather, and cinnamon. The whole composition is dark and very rich.

The sillage of London is pretty moderate, but you’ll definitely notice you’re wearing it. Longevity is solid and it is quite versatile in its application. I always received complements with this one back in the day.  Read my full London Review

Old School Scent

Tabarome By Creed For Men. Eau De Parfum Spray 4.0 Oz
An expensive blend of ginger and tobacco, which is refined and classy. It opens with an air of freshness and some citrus top notes, bergamot and tangerine.

Though, those two fade into the background rather quickly, and you then really start to get the spicy ginger and a rich floral tobacco note. Yes, this isn’t the pipe tobacco more like the flower on the plant blended with a hint of the cured kind.

It is a very well blended fragrance led by those two aforementioned notes. Also, there is the standard Creed ambergris, and smooth masculine leather.

Tabarome is a classic old-school men’s fragrance. It isn’t heavy handed, instead it is understated, and straight to the point.  Creed Tabarome Review

Sweet Honey, Fruit, Tobacco

Tobacolor by Dior– This is a unisex wear from Dior’s La Collection Privee. Tobacolor is a very sweet, warm, smoky, and rich perfume. It’s going to be different from a lot of the other entries on the list, fruitier, but still with great smokiness and our target note.

It is led by notes of plum and peach up top. Warm, ambery, thick with honey, almost like a jam.  The sweetness and smoky aspects here can pack quite a punch, early on, but Tobacolor will settle down…while retaining that essence.

As it dries down, the aroma actually does get drier. Dried fruits, cured tobacco, some spice, that smoke, and all wrapped up in the amber note. The performance delivers and that sillage stays pretty darn strong, even after the big open.

Tobacco Red

Red Tobacco by Mancera– This is another one that is on the pricier side of things. But for some, Red Tobacco is worth it.

The opening is spicy, sweet, yet dry. For me, much of the tobacco is going to come through in the dry down. Cinnamon and saffron tend to come out early, along with some vanilla and fruitiness.

This dry warmth will become smoother after that somewhat rough start, as you get more vanilla, amber, and the tobacco note itself. Yet, the spiciness will remain somewhat throughout the wear. At that point, its a spiced tobacco with vanilla and some dry woods/patchouli.

A bold fragrance with a dense and intense presentation.

Clean Green Tobacco Scent

Dreamer By Versace 3.4 oz Eau De Toilette Spray for Men– You can now get a hold of a full bottle of The Dreamer for right at $30, which is a great price, for this Versace fragrance. It was released in the 1990s and so the price has been reduced, but don’t let that fool you, Dreamer is still a fantastic men’s cologne.

Update: This one has been reformulated. It still has tobacco, but it’s going to be a different experience versus what I wrote here, about the original version.

It opens up with extremely smooth, fresh, and green aroma led by the tobacco note. This isn’t a dark tobacco or smoked tobacco, rather, it is the scent of the flower itself. This is paired with that usual calming lavender note which adds a clean sensation to so many fragrances out there.

The opening feels more powdery than the cologne that you get during the dry down period. Yet, The Dreamer retains its sweet tobacco profile, and only gets better as it moves along.

Finally, you get the woody notes of fir and cedar. This is blended with vetiver and the slight herbal spice of clary sage. It’s masculine, deep, and has a cool dryness about it. This Versace is an absolute winner and one that I love wearing a cooler days of the year. Nice performance with a soft and non-offensive sillage.

Sweet Tobacco and Honey

Thierry Mugler Eau de Toilette Spray, Angel Men Pure Havane, 3.4 Ounce
A gourmand take on tobacco featuring notes of vanilla and honey. It opens like a Cuban cigar that’s been drenched in honey and then dipped in sugar. Very sweet in the start, so just be aware of what you’re getting into.

It’s very rich, warm, and smooth. This is a lighter and sweeter type of tobacco, not at all dark.

These ingredients are later joined by a cocoa note, which smells to me like a chocolate powder. It’s a stronger sort of fragrance with decent longevity. Overall,

Smooth and Leathery

John Varvatos Vintage Eau de Toilette Spray, 4.2 fl. oz.
Smooth, fresh, and a completely classic use of tobacco and leather. The tobacco in Vintage is smokier than probably any of the others on the list.

There are fruity notes underneath, but it is a very masculine scent that uses plenty of woods (like the fir note).

Tonka bean helps to smooth it out some, as does the nicely added suede. However, there is also patchouli and dry oak moss. Varvatos Vintage has an outdoorsy edge and is better suited for the older gentleman.

Still, it only projects moderately, so even with all of this manliness, you aren’t going to choke out a room with it. This really is a gorgeous fragrance. I just wish that Varvatos colognes lasted longer, so, be sure to find a cheap bottle.
