9 Best Smelling Givenchy Perfumes for Ladies

Givenchy (owned by LVMH) has a vast array of perfumes and colognes for both men and women. With such a large selection it can be hard to key in on which of those is the best option for your own personal style. With that in mind, I have selected nine options from Givenchy which not only smell the best but will fit well with an individual personality better than others.

Rose and Peony Daily Wear

Very Irresistible By Givenchy For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 2.5 Ounces A deliciously seductive fragrance by Givenchy. It blends rose and peony among other notes, to create a long-lasting and beautiful affair, which adds a bit of spice to the floral notes.

It opens with the rose note and anise, which provides the fresh spice complement, to the floral aroma. As it dries down, the peony comes into its own, and takes Very Irresistible away from being more of a pure rose fragrance.

This one will last a full 8 hours, isn’t a sillage beast, and works very well in the spring/summer months.  Full Review

The Other Irresistible

Irresistible Eau de Parfum– Like the one above, Irresistible also has a prominent rose note, but this one isn’t nearly close to being another rose. In fact, it gets paired with an iris note in the middle act.

What you do get, is a delicious pear note, up top with a musky finish. It’s a fruity clean rose perfume, with musk and a bit of powder from a fairly understated iris. It dries down into something that is inherently fresh and pretty.

Probably skews more toward a younger audience, but Irresistible EDP is very versatile and has a great performance for this type of fragrance.

Modern Tuberose Blend

Givenchy L’interdit Women, Eau de Parfum Spray, 1.7 Fl Oz– There hasn’t been too many new Givenchy women’s fragrance releases in the past few years, but this is one of them, and it’s actually great. They reused the name from a much older fragrance, that was way before my time.

L’Interdit EDP is a great white floral perfume with an opening act that features a quite prominent pear note. Jasmine, orange blossom, and later tuberose are the main attractions here. It starts out with a candy-like grape sort of aroma. Though, overall it’s not really all that sweet.

Then, the floral notes really take hold and the jasmine is the leader at one point, before the tuberose takes fully control. It has a bit of wood in the base and a slight plant-like greenish aroma, at times. Really good performance. L’Interdit EDP Review

My Favorite L’Interdit

L’Interdit Rouge by Givenchy– Since it’s been a while since I’ve update this page, I wanted to make sure that I included Rouge on this list.

To me, this has been the best of the L’Interdit line so far. Intense, is also a good one.

Rouge kicks off with a blast of ginger spice and blood orange. It is warm, spicy, and sweet with much of that familiar tuberose based DNA of this series, just lurking underneath.

Tuberose and patchouli will play a big role in the dry down too. This one lacks the vanilla, but has more of a woody base than the others. Really great designer wear and worth checking out. Rouge Review

Best Wintertime Wear

Ange Ou Demon By Givenchy For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 3.3-Ounce Offers some good versatility but it is best suited for evening wear. Ange Ou Demon opens with herbal spice from saffron and a light zesty orange note.

Then, it transitions into something creamier and sweeter with tonka bean and vanilla. This stuff can be an absolute powerhouse, with its intensity, and longevity.

Ange isn’t a fragrance for everybody, much more niche, than other scents on the list. It’s got a unique sort of profile, but one you may need to learn to love. Notes of tonka bean, saffron, ylang ylang, vanilla, and others.

Light and Sweet Floral

Amarige By Givenchy For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.3 Oz. A uniquely classic scent from the early 1990s which features a fantastic mix of fruits, floral, and spicy notes.  It is a rich and layered fragrance which gives it an air of complexity and makes it ideal for a mature woman.

Amarige opens with it fruit/floral mix, before it leans more towards the floral end. You get juicy peach and tart plum, especially strong at the top, but they hang around throughout the wear. Gardenia, ylang-ylang, tuberose, and mimosa all seem to get their turn at bat.

However, they ultimately reach a lovely bouquet period, that is highlighted by the underlying sweet fruits. This is an outstanding performer and overall lovely perfume.

80s Throwback

Ysatis By Givenchy For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.3 Ounces Spices and woods co-mingle and are softened by the floral notes. An interesting profile with amber, iris, vanilla, rose, and rum. This is a complete throwback to the 1980s, so, it’s not going to appeal to everyone.

What’s expected from perfumes, as far as style, has changed so much. Nonetheless, Ysatis, is a classic. Obviously, this one has been reformulated, from its original. Unless you pickup an older bottle, it’s not going to be the same.

The newer bottles aren’t terrible, in my mind, but definitely don’t strike the same chord. More floral, less musky and woody depth.

Unique Raspberry Goodness

Hot Couture By Givenchy By Givenchy For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 3.3 Ounces This one is a really special fragrance, that could become a signature perfume for the right lady.

Its fruity notes give it a sweet smell which is pulled back some by the introduction of notes such as pepper, which adds some playful spice to the drydown.

Hot Couture can help separate you from the pack and give your style and infusion of individuality. It’s opening is the fruit note of raspberry, orange, and bergamot. It is creamy with its sandalwood base, with a fresh spiciness of pepper and vetiver.

It dries down, warm and sweet, with a powdery/smoky finish to it. Plus, Hot Couture also gives a long lasting and pretty powerful performance.

Autumn and Early Winter Scent

Organza By Givenchy For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 3.3 Ounces A softer perfume than the others on this list, but by no means weak. This is a great option for day to day wear, for those who want something not too intense, but highly feminine.

It is a white floral wrapped in vanilla goodness. Gardenia, jasmine, and tuberose highlight Organza; making it one beautiful scent. There is a spiciness, also, that goes well with the amber in the base.

That is my current list of the best Givenchy fragrances for her. Obviously, there are many more great options from this brand (seriously, they have dozens more), but this should be a good place to get you started. I will come back to this page and update as necessary, when I come across a newer gem.

Irresistible EDT by Givenchy

Irresistible eau de toilette is another fragrance from this Givenchy series. This edition was launched in 2021. I bought samples of each of the Irresistible perfumes brought to market thus far and have been testing them out. Today’s review entry is the EDT. How does it smell? Does it last long? Is it worth a try?

Here’s how Givenchy describes it: Introducing sparkling rose to tender musky wood, the new Irrésistible Givenchy Eau de Toilette is a bright and airy expression of femininity. It invites you to connect to others and savor the delicious lightness of life.

Like the EDP version, Irresistible EDT starts off quite fruity and with a sparkling quality. In that one, the pear had a great deal of influence, in this it’s blackcurrant.  Joined by a light white tea note that gives it moments of an herbal-like smell.

This, and the greater weighting of the Turkish rose note early on, provides this a sharper/sour and much less juicy/fresh/sweet aroma than the EDP.

It lacks the ambrette and amps up the musk note instead. The rose note here starts off very green, seemingly heightened by the blackcurrant. Plus, the white tea and its scent. However, this will calm down after the first wave.

After that point, it becomes a pinkish rose with musk, a sweeter fruitiness, and the powdery finish of the iris. I get some more iris in this one versus EDP, but still less than the Fraiche version of Irresistible.

The dry down is a fresh musky rose scent with some cedar and iris still hanging around. The iris really does fall off after that middle act and isn’t much of a factor on my skin, thereafter.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

This one has a lighter moderate sillage. Not as good as EDP as far as its projection and how long it leave a scent trail behind. Though, it isn’t all that much weaker than that version with a higher concentration.

With this, I get about 5-6 hours of wear total. The fragrance during that time frame is consistent with its strength and doesn’t just turn into a skin scent an hour in. It will eventually, but you do get a decent period of time to experience the scent of Irresistible EDT.\

Seasonally, it has the same versatile use case. Spring and summer, is when this fragrance is at its best. If it’s not too cold otherwise, wearing it will be perfectly fine. Maybe not as sharp in the cold, as EDP. Just not when it is in peak form.

Irresistible is a pretty sort of perfume, that will get complements, and less of something that might be called sexy. But, it’s one that is a crowd pleaser and nothing that should offend.

It’s fairly wearable. Light and upbeat. More of a daily wear, casual, and semi-formal. I’d probably skip using this as a nightlife sort of scent.

Overall Impressions of Irresistible EDT

Overall, do I like this fragrance? It’s fine. In terms of how it smells, it’s actually my least favorite of the series. Though, for some people, you may prefer this to the sweeter EDP. Fraiche also smells better than this one, but doesn’t have the performance.

I do like the iris and the blackcurrant influence here. It does have the rose and a muskier profile, which is fine, just not all that exciting.

The performance is pretty middle of the road, also. None of the Irresistible scents are super long lasting nor do they have heavy sillage.

You get a pretty forgettable aroma, albeit pleasant, with middling performance and not too much about it that stands out. On sale, you could do a lot worse than picking up a bottle of Irresistible EDT. Full price? Probably wouldn’t go for it.

In either case, I wouldn’t go out of my way to obtain a bottle.

Dahlia Noir by Givenchy

Among the sample vials of fragrance that I received were several Givenchy scents, including a few perfumes for women. Dahlia Noir, is one of these perfumes, and a grown-up floral with a bit more sophistication than that of many other fragrances. In this review, I’m going to cover how Dahlia Noir eau de parfum smells, how it performs, when it should be worn, and whether or not it is worth a buy.

My Full Review

The opening blast of Dahlia Noir is an aroma of a creamy/powdery iris with just a hint of rose, at least at first. The rose note does become more prominent after a few minutes of wear but it never takes over the composition.

It really does have a scent similar to iris-laden baby powder. That will become more of a pinkish rose weighting for the back half of the wear.

On me, there really isn’t much of a citrus presence. Sure, a sense of brightness but nothing too distinct. Though, a sweetness that sits under the floral notes and emergent spice.

As it wears on, Dahlia Noir presents its pink pepper note, which adds a very slight spice to the scent and then a soft vanilla seems to emerge. There is also a light cinnamon, but on me the pink pepper is the more pronounced of the two. The aroma is quite clean and fresh.

Once a lot of the spiciness has died down, Dahlia does get a bit of an freshness/earthy aroma to it, thanks to a pretty substantial patchouli note with mossy highlights.

It’s basically there for the middle act of this scent and then sort of fades into the close.

Mostly, though, this is a floral affair and the iris, rose, and mimosa notes dominate a present a feminine perfume. Dahlia isn’t too complicated of a fragrance. Powdery iris, rose, with some spice and a woody base.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Projection wise, Dahlia Noir is pretty good. It isn’t overpowering or super strong; but you’ll know it’s there. This is a subtle fragrance but not weak, by any means. I would expect anywhere from 2-5 feet from the skin.

Longevity is decent, but again not superb. 4-6 hours seems to be its time frame to operate within. A bit below average sometimes, but can run right around the middle of the pack.

Beyond that, it doesn’t appear to really be present. If you’re paying a lot for a bottle, it’s not going to really give you any value, in terms of performance.

I think that Dahlia Noir would be good for casual or office settings. It is a pretty fragrance but it doesn’t strike me as sexy. I wouldn’t mind smelling it on a woman but I wouldn’t be all of that crazy for it either.

More refined and mature, with an old-school vibe versus being sultry or really captivating.

It does have some good versatility and could work well in almost any season besides the height of summer. The perfume would fall apart in higher temperatures. It strikes me more as an autumn wear, as that’s when I think these notes would be at their best.

Overall Impressions of Dahlia Noir

Overall, how does the Givenchy perfume rate? In my opinion, it’s just okay. There’s nothing amazing here unless you really love iris and rose. Which I am an iris fan, rose can be hit or miss, but Dahlia Noir EDP never jumped out at me.

The iris note is good here, but wasn’t enough to get me too interested.

I like the initial liveliness here. That pink pepper and touch of cinnamon gives this a solid start. There’s some balance with periods of sweetness or earthiness from the patchouli note. So, it’s not just all floral, all the time. A floral chypre fragrance.

The performance is passable and it does smell good but I don’t find anything about Dahlia Noir to be spectacular.

I’m not saying that it’s a complete no, it could serve a purpose in a perfume collection, though, it does nothing to make it ‘great’. It would be one that is worth a try, at a significant enough discount.

I do believe this has been discontinued, as of this latest page update. Discounts may no longer be possible for those who never acted on purchasing.

A few months back, I received samples of the different Irresistible perfumes, in order to add full reviews of each. Today, I am covering Irresistible Fraiche and presenting my thoughts on this scent. How does it smell? When should it be worn? Is it worth a try?

My Full Review

Here’s how Givenchy describes it:  A captivating contrast between fresh rose and vibrant spices. Liberate your energy and express yourself freely with Irresistible Eau de Toilette Fraiche. A fusion of sheer spontaneity and exhilarating vitality.

Fraiche opens up with a bright and energetic kick, brought to you by the pink pepper and citrus zest of the orange note. It’s not overly spicy or really all that warm, in the beginning. Indeed, it takes that Fraiche moniker and delivers with a light and refreshing aroma.

Interestingly, the rose and the iris are coming through early. They aren’t especially heavy or domineering in this mix. But, there is that soft powdery quality coming from the iris. Fraiche will become much more of a musky floral.

I actually get more of the iris than the rose on my skin. Again, though not heavy floral notes here.

Still, with that same freshness throughout, but retaining a sweetness from the early orange and even pink pepper.

In the end, it’s pretty much a mix of the floral notes, musk, and that cedar base. The cedar is pretty prominent in the dry down of Irresistible Fraiche.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

The sillage here is what could be considered average, overall. But, in the early stages this one has a bit of power, nice scent trail, and an ability to project off of the skin.

Is that a super long lasting ability? Not really, but it is there for a while. So, Fraiche deserves some credit for that.

The total time that it lasts on the skin, is about 4-5 hours for me. Again, this is nothing special, but about what I would expect for this Fraiche style of perfume. Just know going in, that this isn’t going to be as good as others in the series or when compared to many other fragrances.

Seasonally, Irresistible Fraiche is one to break out in the spring and summer months. In the warmer to hotter weather, this one is really at its absolute best. The citrus opening and the lighter floral notes were attractive when I wore them outside in August.

Fraiche is one obviously to use to freshen up. Outside of that, it can be used as a daily wear, if you can reapply, once it has faded. It’s easy to spray on, not particularly sexy or formal, but pleasant enough.

Overall Impressions of Irresistible Fraiche

Overall, do I like Irresistible Fraiche? The smell is nice enough, but it doesn’t really cover any new ground. It’s just quite likeable and simple.

The performance isn’t very good, which was to be expected with a Fraiche version of this Irresistible formula. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, if you know what to expect going into wearing this Givenchy perfume.

I like the opening act with the zesty citrus and pink pepper note. That’s a really good start. The rose and the iris are a nice combination, more rose for me, but it’s all pretty boilerplate with how it all develops. There’s nothing that is all that unique or interesting here.

That being said, if you can get a heavy discount and this sounds like something you might enjoy, it could be worth a try for some ladies. I don’t think that most people would think that it smells horrible and would probably have a positive experience with it.

For me, it’s just okay on the whole, and there’s plenty of other options out there.

I’ve tested out the line in order to do reviews for the site and present a head to head comparison of each. Which of these fragrances smells better? Lasts longer? Is the better buy?

My Review: L’Interdit Rouge EDP

Opening

L’Interdit EDP starts off with a blend of pear, bergamot, orange blossom, and ginger. The bergamot and ginger add an initial kick to the mix, but quickly fade out.

The orange blossom is the star white floral in the early stages, that will be joined by tuberose and jasmine,  as they strengthen. But, I actually get a good deal of patchouli from EDP, on my skin.

The opening is actually a sweet floral, that some people compare to the smell of grape bubble gum. I understand the comparison, it’s just overblown.

With Rouge, we go spicier from the start, and use a greater amount of citrus. Here, it is blood orange. The ginger is the same between the two, but is amped up and sticks around for much longer in Rouge.

It is interesting, that you also get that big orange blossom start with Rouge also, but it is the note that fades away quickly. The tuberose moves into full strength earlier, in this edition.

Which is better, at the start? I really like each of them a lot early on. Though, I have a slight preference for Rouge. That ginger spice and blood orange is really great and just somewhat more attractive than EDP.

Projection

So, both of these perfumes are what could be considered strong fragrances. You will get great projection off of the skin, a scent trail, without completely bombing out a room (if you don’t over-spray).

The sillage of both is actually pretty similar. During my testing, I did find L’Interdit to be a bit more powerful when compared to Rouge.

It isn’t a huge difference, but I do seem to be able to pick up the scent of EDP on a shirt, somewhat further away than I did when I did the same later with Rouge.

Longevity

With L’Interdit EDP, it will last between 8-9.5 hours on my skin. It is a good amount of range, but definitely leaned towards the higher end, during testing.

With Rouge, it’s a bit of a step back from that, but a similar level. I get somewhere around 8 hours, maybe less or a little bit more. However, it doesn’t hit that same high end that the original does. 

Not a huge discrepancy, though, there’s enough of a difference to have a clear distinction. 

Edge: L’Interdit

Versatility

Neither of these fragrances is built for the hottest days of the year. I’d stick mostly to autumn and winter with each. But, EDP can more easily venture into the springtime than Rouge.

Rouge is a bit more mature and sexier, when compared to the EDP. Both can fit into nightlife wear, but Rouge is a better option there.

Not a huge difference, basically on par with one another. Rouge does have a very slight edge.

Overall Scent

Which one of these fragrances is better? To me, it’s actually a close race, as they are my two favorite perfumes from this Givenchy series.

With EDP, I like the opening act with the pear and the orange blossom. Sure, a candy-like at times, but still a wonderful scent. The dry down is more of the traditional tuberose led, white floral. Still, I like it.

However, even with a slightly better performance, I prefer Rouge more so than the original. 

It’s not a major sure fire win for the flanker scent. Yet, the opening is better to me, as is the whole experience. 

It’s got a more dynamic start with blood orange and ginger, while still retaining that familiar L’Interdit DNA. I like the spicier vibe and dry down with plenty of sandalwood and patchouli. Rouge is a great perfume release, to me.

I can honestly recommend either one of these. Or really, any of them in the series (if you enjoy tuberose or can stand it). Just in this head to head battle, I think L’Interdit Rouge stands just a notch above.
