Best Smelling Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume

Marc Jacobs’ Daisy line of scents, have been a massive success, and of course fueled almost countless flanker fragrances from the original. With so many options, it can be difficult to cut through the fog of choice, and select one that can be considered the best of the lot.

In this post, I am going to try and do so. I will present three options, with different styles, that are the top contenders from the line. From heavier fruited scent to a more floral option and in between.

What are the Best Daisy Perfumes by Marc Jacobs?

Sunny Summer

Marc Jacobs Eau de Toilette Spray, Daisy So Fresh Sunshine, 2.5 Ounce So Fresh Sunshine is a lighter fragrance for the spring/summer months, but also smells amazing. This one is led by the fruit notes, grapefruit and strawberry, above the floral ingredients.

It’s quite a different take from the others in the Daisy line, however, the juicy fruits at the opening and that clean upbeat energy makes it a beautiful departure from the norm.

The strawberry note and apple blossom, reign at the top. During the dry down, rose and jasmine begin to come in. Sunshine is well balanced, but not a powerhouse type of perfume.

Fresh Take

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Eau de Toilette Spray-125ml/4.25 oz.– Like Sunshine above, this is a fruitier take on the original Daisy, but it doesn’t stray as far from the original DNA. You get fresh and sweet fruits, that are less juicy, and more tempered by the floral notes, such as violet.

This one is a simple and straightforward wear, with more earthy and floral elements emerging after the opening. The sillage isn’t huge, but Eau So Fresh, is a fantastic option for daily wear during the warmer months of the year.

The Original

Marc Jacobs Daisy, EDT Spray, 3.4oz 100ml– Finally, we have the original classic scent. This is for those who want a more floral than fruity experience. The violet in this one, is the strongest player, with gardenia and jasmine playing a supporting role.

The fragrance is lightly aquatic and green, with powdery undertones as it dries down. It’s been a best seller for many years now, and for good reason, it is versatile and still manages to smell nice. Daisy Full Review

There you have it, three of the best smelling fragrances from the Marc Jacobs Daisy line. Each one, should fit a different type of style, and whether or not one wants a fruitier or more floral experience from their perfume.

Mont Blanc Legend Spirit vs. Invictus Aqua

For this edition of the head to head men’s fragrance match ups, we have a competition between two popular aquatic scents: Legend Spirit vs. Invictus Aqua. Which cologne smells the best? Mont Blanc or Paco Rabanne? I have worn and reviewed, each of these scents, and will break them down in a variety of categories before ultimately choosing a winner.

Notes include: yuzu, pink pepper, guaiac wood, marine notes, violet leaf, ambergris, grapefruit

Read my review: Invictus Aqua

Opening

Invictus Aqua opens up with a citrus blend of yuzu and grapefruit to go along with its marine accord. I really enjoy how this one opens, with that salty aquatic accord, and that very nice yuzu sitting on top. Plus, pink pepper kicks in to give it that slightly spicy warmth.

Legend Spirit has a similar opening to Invictus Aqua, with it’s citrus and aquatic start. However, to go along with the pink pepper, Spirit has a fairly strong cardamom note lurking in there as well, which is a good change of pace.

Which is better? Again, they are quite similar at the start. However, I think I like the smell of Invictus Aqua, a bit more at the beginning. The yuzu and the aquatic accord, is just a tad better.

Edge: Invictus Aqua

Projection

Both of these fragrances fall into the moderate camp. The sillage of either, isn’t very bold or extreme. Though, Aqua does achieve a bit better projection than does Legend Spirit. It isn’t a huge difference, but the Paco Rabanne is better, on my skin.

Edge: Aqua

Longevity

With Legend Spirit, I can muster about 5-6 hours worth of wear, before needing to reapply. Meanwhile, Invictus Aqua gets me 8 hours, and I can get over 10 on occasions.

Edge: Aqua

Versatility

These two are very closely related fragrances. Both are very nice colognes for casual wear during the warmer months of the year. They can also be worn to work or for an evening out. There really isn’t any separation, in this category.

Edge: Push

Overall Scent

With Mont Blanc’s Legend Spirit, I do like plenty about this cologne. The cardamom is a great addition to a citrus aquatic, it isn’t super heavy, but it does add a noticeable spice to the composition.

It is clean and fresh and adds a different dimension than does the original Legend. It’s a very nice fragrance and not a bad wear, at all. The dry down stays fresh and the latter stages of this scent, smells better than Invictus Aqua.

Aqua has a better opening act and better performance overall. As it dries down, I am less of a fan, because it first becomes woodier (not bad) and then ends with lots of that sea water aroma (not great).

I’m going to give the nod to Invictus Aqua, because it does more overall, but I do think that Spirit has a better smell throughout the remainder of the wear. This is a close one, but I think most guys would prefer Aqua.

Winner: Invictus Aqua

5 Best Smelling Jil Sander Perfumes

Jil Sander is a German fashion brand, that has been more popular in Europe, than over in the US. However, it has a long lineup of fragrances for both men and women, including a few classics under its belt. With such a wide array of scents, both available and discontinued, it can be tough to choose from. In this post, I have selected five of what could be considered the best perfumes for her by Jil Sander. I did pick ones which I could still actually find for sale, so folks could actually try them out.

What are the Best Jil Sander Perfumes?

Best Winter Fragrance

Jil Sander 4 By Jil Sander For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 3.4 Ounces– Probably one of the most popular perfumes from this line, and that’s for good reason, it smells great and had plenty of time to develop a fan base.

Jil Sander No. 4 is really bold from the jump, with a sweet then tart plum, with floral notes and a musky spice. It has an enveloping warmth, built for cold weather days.

Performance here, is really good, and you get to cycle through floral notes such as: jasmine, ylang ylang, tuberose, and carnation. Beautiful and unique.

Light Juicy Citrus

Jil Sander Sensations Eau de Toilette Spray for Women, 1.35 Ounce Sensations opens up with a dominant citrus vibe of mostly orange, but also bergamot, and a light raspberry note.

The orange is enhanced with one of my favorite floral notes, orange blossom, and a creamy tonka bean. There is a light musky spice in the beginning, but it settles itself down, later.

It is light and warm, with that great tonka bean note leading the way.

Most Popular Sander Perfume

Jil Sander Sun By Jil Sander For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 2.5-Ounce– Sun is another classic release from Jil Sander, that is sweet, warm, and floral with a strong benzoin note. Sun turns into a very creamy lotion-like scent, as to be expected when tonka bean, vanilla, and sandalwood are so involved.

It has some fruit notes, at the top, but the wood and floral notes really start to peak through later, in conjunction with the aforementioned ingredients.

Sun has a lot of layers to it, might not be for everybody, but for the right woman is amazing. Plus, the performance with this one is outstanding.

Fresh Floral Blend

JIL by Jil Sander Eau De Parfum Spray 1.7 oz Women– Lavender and pink pepper sit at the top of JIL, with just a bit of citrus thrown in. Next, the vanilla note comes in, and joins the lavender to create a clean sweetness.

As it moves along, you get a powdery scent, not super heavy but the heliotrope does give off that powdered aroma. It dries down into a an ambery vanilla, with soft floral notes flanking it. Fresh, easy to wear, with solid longevity.

Woody Floral

Jil Sander Eve Eau De Toilette Spray 30ml/1oz  Eve opens up with some bright and clean fruity notes, such as grapefruit. However, it gradually becomes dominated by cashmere wood, patchouli, and some underlying floral notes (mainly rose).

This one is super fresh and clean, built for the colder months of the year, with its warm cleanliness. Not super heavy, but well balanced, and otherwise has a good performance. The patchouli and wood pairing are really the highlight of Eve.

There you have it, five of the best ladies’ fragrances from Jil Sander. I will come back and update this post, as necessary, to add or subtract any of the perfumes. As of now, this is a great place to start for those who want to try scents from this brand.

Azzaro Wanted vs. Chrome Comparison

It’s been a while since I’ve done a new fragrance comparison post, so, let’s knock one out. Today, I am going to be breaking down two popular scents by Azzaro: Chrome vs. Wanted. Which is the better cologne? The classic or the newer release? Which has better longevity? Sillage? Ultimately, which is the better buy?

Tale of the Tape

Azzaro Chrome

Click here to try: Men’s Chrome by Azzaro Eau de Toilette Spray – 3.4 oz.

Notes include: neroli, lemon, bergamot, rosemary, pineapple, musk, woods, and jasmine

Read my review: Chrome Review

Azzaro Wanted

Notes include: tonka bean, lemon, cardamom, vetiver, juniper, ginger, geranium, mint, amber wood

Click here to try: Azzaro Wanted Eau De Toilette Spray, 3.4 Ounce

Read my review: Azzaro Wanted

Opening

Chrome opens up with top notes of pineapple and lemon, which lends to its bright and somewhat sharp aroma. These notes are joined by floral ones, being jasmine and neroli.

The latter two help to give Chrome is clean and soapy qualities. Chrome isn’t just your typical citrus/floral, but it also has an aquatic feeling, throughout the wear.

Wanted begins with lemon, ginger, mint, and woods. It’s actually quite sweet and warm, with an Invictus-like aroma. This becomes especially true, when the cardamom and tonka bean come in fully. Wanted is warm, sweet, thick, and somewhat spicy.

Which is better? Honestly, I prefer Chrome much more than the start of Wanted. I like its cleanliness and that metallic scent, more so than, the start of Wanted. The latter isn’t that appealing, at the top, to my nose.

Edge: Chrome

Projection

Ultimately, they are both moderate fragrances. However, I think that Wanted starts off as having a stronger sillage, than does Chrome. Chrome can be fairly strong, but doesn’t reach the same height as Wanted.

Edge: Wanted

Longevity

These two fragrances, are also pretty close, in terms of how long each lasts. Chrome has the ability to go 7-8 hours. Meanwhile, Wanted usually ranges from 7-9. Most of the time, it’ll be about the same, but Wanted can go a little longer in the right climate conditions.

Edge: Wanted

Versatility

Chrome is good for year round daily wear. It can be worn at the office, school, or casually. Wanted can too, but Chrome is generally more appropriate. Azzaro Wanted is the better bet for nightlife, out of these two. There’s no real distinction in this category.

Edge: Push

Overall Scent

Wanted has some nice parts to its wear. I’m not a big fan of the opening, as I find it too sharp, and like a worse version of Invictus. However, once the wood and tonka bean get going, I think that it turns around and is more enjoyable. It has good performance and isn’t a bad option at all.

Granted, neither of these fragrances are something that I want to reach for often. But if I had to, I would pick Chrome, on a more frequent basis. Yes, it’s been around a long time and isn’t super complex.

I just appreciate its upbeat freshness, metallic undertones, aquatic smell, and the woody dry down period. It’s not exactly as good of a performer as is Wanted, but it is close enough, to not be a big deal.

Chrome is a no-brainer, that is easy to wear, and gets a lot of complements. There’s a reason it has been a solid starter cologne, for its third decade. Again, not a huge fan of either, but Chrome is more pleasant.

Winner: Chrome

5 Best Smelling Lalique Perfumes for Her

Lalique is a fairly popular brand in the fragrance world, with a whole host of scents available, for both men and women. This French brand is known for jewelry and other fashion staples and has been around for many decades. In this post, I want to take a bit of a closer look at their fragrance lineup. I have selected five of what can be considered the best smelling fragrances for women by Lalique.

What are the Best Smelling Lalique Perfumes?

Most Popular Berries

Amethyst by Lalique for Women 3.3 oz Eau de Parfum Spray Amethyst is probably the most popular Lalique perfume for her. It is full of delicious black and blueberries and a sweet tart note of black currant.

This is a juicy fruit fragrance with some light musk and rose notes, in the background of the scent. It’s not too sweet, nor too loud, but a nice daily wear scent for those who dig these fruit notes.

During the latter stages, there is a woody base to solidify things, and it plays nicely off of the berries.

Light Peachy Musk

Lalique Reve D’infini Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.3 Fl Oz Reve d’Infini is a light and easy to wear perfume, with a nice bright fruity top act, which transitions into more of a floral/musk scent.

The sillage isn’t too heavy but the performance is good overall. It has a peachy sort of aroma to it and dries down with a dash of vanilla.

Spicy Power

Lalïquë Pêrles De Lalïquë Perfume for Women 3.3 fl.Oz Eau De Parfum Spray– Perles de Lalique takes a different tact from the other perfumes on the list. This is an outdoorsy fragrance for ladies with a peppery scent that is laden with patchouli.

Beyond that, you get a dry slightly rosy dry down, with a solid cedar note at the base. This has a stronger sillage than some of the others and is wholly distinct from the others.

Clean Powder Fragrance

Lalique Perfume for Women 3.3 oz Eau de Parfum Spray– This is an older scent, but one the more popular ones. Lalique for Women is a fruity and powdery scent, with a nice iris note floating throughout the heart. It is clean with a pear note and creamy with sandalwood.

Lalique is well blended and a solid performing daily wear, with the juicy blackberry note being the main highlight, of the scent.

Summertime Citrus Floral

Lalique L’Amour Eau de Parfum, 3.3 Fl Oz– L’Amour is one for the floral lovers. Most of the rest of the list, is fruity/floral dominant. While this does have a citrus zest at the top, L’Amour, is loaded with jasmine, gardenia, and neroli.

It is light and fun, a great wear for the spring and summer months, for work or casual or even more formal occasions. The sillage here is light, but the good news is, that it has such great versatility. L’Amour is really a Jack of all trades, kind of scent. Nice soft floral, with a light musk, and citrus top.

There you have it, the five best scents for ladies by Lalique. I will come back and make any changes needed to this post, over time, and potentially add some more selections. As for now, these five should get the job done just fine.
