Eternity Air for Men by Calvin Klein

Eternity Air was one of the seemingly endless line of CK Eternity fragrances, that I had yet to properly try and review on the site. This one came out back in 2018 and I wasn’t too familiar with it.  So, I bought a travel sprayer’s worth of it to test out and share my thoughts on. How does it smell? How long does Air last? Is it worth a try?

My Full Wear Review

The opening spray of Eternity Air does bring an airy sort of aroma. Not that it’s weak, but more like a gust of wind carrying it’s notes on top of it.

Initially, the lavender is most noticeable, along with the freshness of the juniper. A light mandarin and seaweed/saltwater combination, that is sort of like Bvlgari Aqva. However, this one reminds me a lot of Maritime Journey by Tommy Bahama blended with Light Blue Eau Intense.

I like the concept itself. The air accord and the sea/aquatic accord being the two dominate themes in this one. So, once I saw the listed notes, I had pretty high expectations for Air.

There is definitely an accord of ingredients in this one, that produces an Light Blue Eau Intense aroma. It’s like a current underneath the main attraction of Eternity Air. Amber, sea notes, mandarin, and especially the juniper all overlap with these two fragrances. Air isn’t nearly as strong, nor as citrusy.

From here, I pick up some of the violet leaf. What Eternity Air ultimately becomes is about the amber, lavender, juniper, and seaweed. The other notes mostly evaporate away from my skin and this starts to feel rather plain and familiar.

So, the oceanic feeling is gone, except for the seaweed. Then, the ‘air’ fresh breeziness doesn’t hold up throughout either. Again, the two main attractions are all but neutered by the end.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Sillage wise, it’s pretty moderate. On the lower end of the middle of the pack. For me, it actually holds up decently, but never feels like a powerhouse or anything.

Again, this is an airy aquatic. As such, Eternity Air isn’t going to be a heavy sillage bomb. Some scent trail and projection, but it’s going to be lighter with how it hangs in the air.

Longevity is okay, but not amazing. 5-6.5 hours with a few sprays, on the skin. On an old t-shirt, I got some more hours out of it. So, if you don’t mind damaging some clothing item, it’ll go further for you.

This one suffers the same fate as many other recent releases from this brand, it’s middling in the performance. Even if you like the smell of the fragrance itself, it kind of disappoints anyway.

Eternity Air is a spring/summer wear. Though, I’ve worn it in January, and it really wasn’t bad at all. It’s not a super citrus scent and the airy freshness didn’t feel too out of place.

Mostly, I would wear this as a casual scent. It’s not particularly offensive, so the office wouldn’t be a problem either. Not a club beast. It’s somewhat attractive, but nothing to call sexy.

You can at least wear Eternity Air in a variety of situations, which I guess is its strength. It’s just not very formal or anything that is well put together, even if it is something that one can get use out of.

Overall Impressions of Eternity Air

Do I like this fragrance? It’s okay. There’s nothing all that unique about it, nor anything attention grabbing. It smells like plenty of others out there, doesn’t have insane performance, but it isn’t revolting.

I thought that I would really like this one going into it. I do like fresh aquatics and with that added ‘air’ accord, this cologne sounded like something that’d be an under the radar gem. However, it doesn’t ever turn into anything special.

From the Eternity series, Air, is one of my least favorites. Eternity Now and Aqua are both better warm weather colognes. As such, what’s the point of getting this one?

The opening act is probably it’s most attractive point, but that’s short-lived. Everything else about it is completely middle of the road. Kind of a forgettable experience. Again, Eternity Air isn’t a bad fragrance, I just can’t see myself wanting to or needing to wear it.

Defy EDT by Calvin Klein

Defy is a cologne release from Calvin Klein that the brand put out back in 2021. It was good to see them taking a bit of a break from just putting out Eternity flankers all of the time and starting a new line. I got a sample of this recently to finally do a proper review and see if it’s worthwhile to actually purchase.

What does Defy by Calvin Klein Smell Like?

Notes include: bergamot, amber, vetiver, lavender

My Full Review

Upon first spraying Defy, I’m immediately reminded of Y EDT from YSL. Very similar style with the blue-ish aroma, bergamot, and heavy use of ambroxan. Not one to one exactly the same, but the style is very much related.

The initial citrus here is juicy and has a nice freshness. It kind of fades quickly from prominence in favor of the lavender note.

For a while, there is more of a balance between the bergamot, ambroxan, and lavender. But, the lavender will consolidate more control, as we progress. Funny enough, the ambroxan does back off and there is another round in which the bergamot comes through more on my skin.

Defy doesn’t really develop all that much though. It’s like a generic ‘blue-ish’ cologne smell mixed with that lavender. There is some vetiver in the dry down, but even that isn’t too heavy or involved.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Sillage wise, this is light to moderate. Defy isn’t a fragrance that is going to leave a massive cloud in one’s wake or dare to take over a room. It’s just kind of middle of the road, extending out maybe to 5 feet, at its peak.

The longevity is also meh. I get about 5, maybe 5.5 hours on skin. So, if you do end up going for this one, you’ll probably have to bring the bottle with you for re-application later in the day.

Seasonally, it is good for the spring and summer. I don’t know that I’d wear it on the hottest days, though. It’s seems like a better play on moderate to warm days. I wore it out on a day where it was 65 degrees Fahrenheit and that seemed like a good spot for Defy to work in.

This cologne does lean more towards younger guys. It’s not a formal or refined kind of fragrance. Casual or a daily wear for something like school. It has enough mass appeal to grab some complements, but it’s a very basic and entry level cologne.

Not particularly going to stand out as unique, but younger guys could do a lot worse than this, as far as scent goes.

Overall Impressions of Defy EDT

Overall, do I like Defy? It’s okay. I think that it can be pleasant at times, but isn’t ever something that’s remarkable. Sure, it’s close to the original Y EDT in terms of smell and style, but that’s till better than this CK release. And, I’m not even a big fan of that one.

I don’t hate this either. If you can get it for cheap and are in your teens or twenties, this could be a very serviceable cologne for you. It smells nice enough and doesn’t have any repulsive qualities about it.

The opening is probably the highlight for me. I do like that bergamot note, when it is at its strongest. The dry down is fine, just not dynamic.

The performance isn’t great, which makes it even less appealing, even if you enjoy the smell. Five-ish or so hours, isn’t going to cut it for most guys. Especially, if this is selling a retail. I would only shop at discounters and see if they ever have this one sale. Outside of that, I probably wouldn’t even bother.

Eternity Intense by Calvin Klein

So, I saw that Calvin Klein had released a new fragrance, Eternity Intense, and figured that I might as well give it a try. Now, CK scents are a mixed bag for me, some smell good and perform well, while others simply don’t make the cut.

I like the original Eternity, as such I thought that this might be a welcome addition to the lineup. In this post, I want to give my impressions of this cologne, what it smells like, how it performs, and whether I think that it is worth a purchase or not.

My Full Wear Review

So, right off the bat, I want to compare this to the original Eternity for Men. I like the original scent, though, it definitely isn’t my favorite by any stretch. It’s good, decently priced, but does have a bit too much of a soapy aroma to be an everyday wear for me.

But, it is a legit scent. Eternity Intense, on the other hand, I don’t really know what to make of it. It isn’t intense…like at all.

Secondly, it immediately has a heavy reliance on the iris note, whereas the older Eternity was much more lavender based. I think the floral notes are too heavily weighted in the composition.

However, I don’t want to bash the scent or give you the idea that the floral notes make this a ‘girly’ fragrance. It isn’t. The pepper note gives it a spice and a light smokiness is added to it for a masculine air.

There is also some light citrus that is reminiscent of the original but it seems really soft. I do get the black tea, for a short time, and I actually like it with this blend. Wish it stuck around for a longer period.

The bergamot and grapefruit pairing don’t even reach the same level as the old Dior Homme, which the citrus in that is also light. Here, it’s almost miniscule.

It’s somewhat like a poor man’s Dior Homme, which I love, but  this is not nearly to the same level. No real depth and the quality isn’t up to par either.

As it dries down, this gets some woodsy influence from geranium and cedar. Mostly it’s about the iris and some vanilla influence.

I actually think that it smells pretty nice and doesn’t have the same soapy quality as the original Eternity. Though, it isn’t great or all that impressive either.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Projection wise, it doesn’t live up to the title. It isn’t intense and is actually a fairly soft cologne. What the hell? This isn’t the first time that I’ve run across an ‘intense’ scent that completely lacks in this department. If it’s not going to be a powerhouse, just name it something else.

Also, the longevity is really weak. You might eek out a few hours with this scent or it will be gone within an hour. The original Eternity was pretty good in this measurement but the Intense version drops the ball.

I don’t know, if I’m the only one who has had issues with Intense, but the performance is really bad.

Eternity Intense would probably fall under the casual cologne family, in my opinion. That is, if it actually lasted and performed well. It feels like a springtime wear with the floral notes.

If you get a better performance than I, this would be a pretty easy on to spray on, in a variety of situations. Not the greatest or highest quality fragrance, but it’d work well enough for most guys.

Overall Impressions of Eternity Intense

Overall, is this a buy? No. I don’t get it. It smells decent but its performance sucks. Like, there are so many other options out there, there is literally no reason for this. It doesn’t do anything well enough for me to justify a purchase.

The dry down is pretty nice and I like the black tea, to the extent I get any of it. But, it just never hits a higher level. Maybe it’d be a fine pick up for really cheap, just to see if you get some performance from it. As is, I’ll pass completely.

If you like the original Eternity, just stick with that, and skip Intense. The other Eternity flankers are at least decent to quite good, this one just completely misses the mark. Not a good entry from Calvin Klein performance wise, which makes the rest of the fragrance pointless.

Euphoria by Calvin Klein

Euphoria is a fragrance that was released by Calvin Klein back in 2005. It’s a series that produced a ton of flankers and also had a men’s line as well. It’s a scent that I’ve enjoyed coming in contact with over the years, so, I got a sample of it to finally do a full review for the site. Is it still worth a try?

What does Euphoria by Calvin Klein Smell Like?

Notes include: mahogany, black orchid, lotus blossom, black violet, persimmon, and pomegranate

My Full Review

Euphoria is a perfume which while being a mainstream designer fragrance, does have a fairly unique aroma versus many others on the market.

It starts from the opening, where you get a mix of pomegranate and persimmon as the fruity top notes, which are two underutilized ingredients. Very juicy, tart, sweet, and delicious overall.

Underneath that you’re going to already get a good deal of what this perfume is all about. The mahogany note, which really helps to set this one apart is already apparent. But, the floral accord is what’s going to develop in full once some of the fruitiness has burned off.

Here, the main attraction is orchid. Violet in the second spot, with lotus for a short amount of time. The fruity opening subsides and Euphoria becomes floral/fruity with rich wood, instead of a tart juicy explosion.

When the floral notes get going, the patchouli will also start to come out more. It’s not too heavy on my skin, but I like the earthy depth it brings to the floral heart. A bit of spice here.

This one dries down into a darkly rich perfume. That pomegranate and persimmon continue their decline. Orchid, mahogany and amber all take on a larger share of the pie. Violet sticks around to still play a supporting role.

It gets woodier with the mahogany becoming dominant in the final dry down. Amber, musk, and floral notes. Still some spice, less of that sweet tart beginning.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Euphoria opens up with a bang. The sillage definitely is strong in the opening hour or so. Not massive, but very easily over-sprayed and will leave a trail behind you. But, that will come in closer to the skin, and be more of a moderate the rest of the way.

On my skin, it goes for 7-7.5 hours before calling it quits. Not amazing, but Euphoria does its job fairly well and I wasn’t disappointed.

Seasonally, I’d stick to autumn through early springtime with Euphoria. It doesn’t come across as a summer scent and it will probably be a complete mess in the heat.

This has a darker feeling, while still having a youthful dynamic. Not to say that Euphoria is just for teenagers, it actually casts a fairly wide net. It can be worn to school or even some offices, while also has a nightlife style, or even date nights.

Still, it may be based on my memories of smelling this stuff out in the wild, but I associate it with women in their early 20s.

Overall Impressions of Euphoria for Women

Overall, do I like Euphoria? Yes, it’s one of my favorites from the Calvin Klein women’s collection. Some of the flankers were really good as well. Though, I’m pretty sure a lot of them are difficult to find nowadays.

I’m probably a little more of a fan of this scent than many people, but I think it is great for something that is mass appealing. The men’s version is also great, but just has terrible performance. This, is much better in that regard.

Pomegranate, mahogany, and the amber. It’s different from most of the designer fare, especially here in the 2020s. This was early 2000s vibe, though, it even stands out from that era of perfumes.

It’s still super popular and probably the most famous CK fragrance from the women’s line, for younger people (Obsession? Maybe). This is worth trying out to this day, it smells great, it’s different, and the performance holds up.

Eternity for Men Flame by Calvin Klein

With my latest batch of sample fragrances, I received a couple of Calvin Klein colognes, from their ever-expanding Eternity lineup. This entry will be about, Eternity for Men Flame. I think that this is a limited release, as I haven’t seen it very many places, and is also somewhat overlapping with the release of Eternity EDP. Anyway, what does Flame smell like? How long does it last? Is it worth a try?

My Full Wear Review

Before we get into my review of Eternity for Men Flame, let’s see what Calvin Klein says about it: Ignited. Intense. Masculine. The scent of smoldering resins enhanced by a surge of mandarin and fresh aromatic notes.

So, the official sample card that came with my Eternity Flame vial, says that this fragrance contains mandarin orange. All of the websites that I checked, say that it contains pineapple, with no mention of the mandarin.

Which is it? I actually do think that it’s both. This fragrance gets compared to L’Homme Intense by YSL, due to the amber and orange blossom, in that mix. To my nose, they don’t smell exactly alike, and the difference does seem to be a pineapple-like smell.

As such, I’m going to assume that this contains both fruits. Flame starts off with that fruit blend, it’s warm and sweet, flanked by amber and a resinous quality.

After the first few minutes, I really start to pick up on the herbal spice of rosemary. With the resin and rosemary, I think it creates an aroma that is distinct from L’Homme Parfum Intense, but somewhat similar.

Once the initial phase passes, the rosemary becomes less of a factor, and is replaced by both leather and a strengthening amber note. The Calvin Klein cologne, still has that fruity sweetness on the top, but it’s not as sharp as it had been in the first 20 minutes or so.

What I’m ultimately left with for the rest of the wear, is a amber-laden leather fragrance, with more of a pineapple finish than mandarin orange. Which is good, since I like pineapple’s scent more so than mandarin.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

The projection on Eternity Flame is really good for the first hour or so, and then, weakening thereafter.

It will project around 5-6 feet from the skin, at its height. Not super powerful, but a solid fragrance. It’s also not too heavy feeling.

For me, I could only get this to last 4-5 hours on my skin. I sprayed three times in the same place and got that result. Then, I did multiple sprays around the body, on another wear. It was still producing 4-5 hours.

The performance wasn’t great, but once these bottles get cheap, it might be a worthwhile one to have around.

Seasonally, not necessarily just a wintertime fragrance. It could easily venture into spring, as it isn’t too heavy. I wouldn’t venture into the heat, with Flame. Autumn through early spring, depending on where you life.

I could see this being used more as a casual, date night, or something to wear in the nightlife. It’s not a beast, but it will give you enough projection to be useful in those scenarios. Not really a formal cologne, but Flame is good for wearing around elsewhere.

Overall Impression of Eternity for Men Flame

Do I like this cologne? It’s nice enough, but not amazing. If I’m doing a comparison, I’d still wear L’homme Parfum Intense, over this. However, this is already starting to be available for around $30 a bottle. With that kind of price point, it’s definitely a pretty good value.

I like the opening fruitiness, pineapple and mandarin, but I’m not too enthralled by the rosemary note. I love amber and leather, so, this is going to be at the very least decent to me. Here, it’s more somewhat enjoyable versus being a love for me. I don’t know why exactly.

The performance is pretty subpar with Flame. It’s not going to be an all day wear. You’ll probably have to reapply sometime during the day.

If all this sounds appealing to you, I would say that it’s a buy, at that super discounted price. Not one I’d pay full admission for, however.
