Dior Homme Cologne by Christian Dior

The original Dior Homme, is pretty much my go to daily wear. A such, I always want to try out the different offerings under the Dior Homme banner. Today, I am going to collect my thoughts and review, Dior Homme Cologne.

This is a flanker fragrance of sorts, but is a completely independent fragrance from the rest of the line. It was updated in 2022, after it’s initial release in 2013. However, it really didn’t get a full overhaul like Sport and Homme 2020, and is basically the same.

How does Cologne smell? Does it last long? How does it project? Is it worth a purchase?

Dior Homme Cologne Overview

Notes include: bergamot, Moroccan grapefruit blossom, musk

My Full Wear Review

Before I get into my own thoughts about Dior Homme Cologne, let’s see what Dior has to say about it: Citrusy bergamot, sensual grapefruit blossom and cotton-fresh white musks infuse to create a radiant, contemporary signature. An enveloping trail that reflects the casual charm of a timeless white dress shirt. A simply elegant fragrance for your own pleasure.

Right off the bat, Dior Homme Cologne, is going to be a laid back and casual scent. It’s actually pretty simple, in its presentation, but still manages to deliver a nice experience.

Also, it’s actually an eau de cologne concentration, as the name suggests. So, it’s not going to be as potent as a baseline eau de toilette. Still, for what this is, DHC has a good level of performance.

Bergamot and the grapefruit blossom, lead this one completely. At first, you get the more pure juicy citrus of the bergamot. Then, the grapefruit blossom comes in, and gives it a neroli-like aroma.

This and Allure Homme Sport Cologne have a lot of overlap. I prefer this Dior to the Chanel, since it has a colder feeling to it and the performance is better than its competitor.

Dior Homme Cologne is only a bit floral, but that light white floral note, does sit just underneath the surface. This is a very summery, upbeat, and bright sort of cologne.

Quite clean and refreshing, but definitely not one for those, who don’t enjoy the citrus fragrances. This one can hit like lemonade, at times, and also give you some musk.

Again, this is a really simple fragrance. In essence, you get: lemonade, white floral, a greenish note from the grapefruit blossom, and musk.

How’s the Sillage? How Long Does it Last?

The sillage is on the lighter side, but it isn’t weak. Dior Homme Cologne, simply doesn’t fill up a room, but is noticeable close by. Actually, that’s probably a good thing, with such a tart citrus note.

For the first hour or so, Cologne is actually fairly substantial with a decent amount of projection off of the skin. Again it’s an eau de cologne, this one isn’t designed to be a beast.

The longevity is pretty good for what this is. Not amazing, mind you, but I can get up to 6 hours with it. Usually, in the 4-6 hour range, which is to be expected with this style of fragrance.

There’s a lot of these citrus summertime fragrances which only pull 2-3 hours of work before quitting (the Chanel, for example). This, isn’t so bad by comparison.

Update: Trying out my newer 2022 edition bottle, I haven’t found the performance to have changed at all.  It’ll still last for 4-6 hours on skin, with the same lighter sillage.

Versatility

This is a spring and summertime wear, all the way. The citrus simplicity is built for the heat. This is one that I’ve worn in July and August, at peak heat and humidity, and it works extremely well for that environment.

With my new bottle, I’ve been picking it up a lot more here in the first half of springtime. Especially, when I know that I’m going to be spending time outside. The citrus aroma just delivers a great experience for me in these conditions.

It’s more of a casual daytime wear, but could easily fit in, at the office. That initial lemonade-like aroma, might not be ideal, but the more floral/musky dry down fits in just fine.

Dior Homme Cologne isn’t a nightlife scent. I mean, maybe an outdoor bar, on the beach in the summer. Outside of that, not really.

This is one that you reach for when it’s hot outside and you need to be fresh. It’s attractive enough, not really sexy, but it could get complements.

Overall

Overall, do I like Dior Homme Cologne? I like it, but it’s not amazing. It’s a simple cologne, that hits one note, pretty darn well. The citrus is tart and clean, can be very enjoyable to wear, but it is somewhat limited in its application.

I don’t think that I’d pay full price for it, but with a significant discount, I’d consider. An above average summer scent, but not a must have by any stretch. Not up there with the best Christian Dior fragrances, either.

Update: I bought a small travel sprayer of this for spring and summer 2022 (and a full bottle thereafter). Dior Homme Cologne is better than I initially thought, a few years back, so I bumped its score up a bit. That citrus is awesome when it’s hot out and I used up my entire supply.

I do like these kind of colognes, but they do have limitations as to when it can be worn. Not one that will be your only wear, but can be an alternative option for when the temperatures rise.

If you do live in a tropical region, you’ll probably get a lot more use out of this fragrance versus most people. But, if you’re someone who wants a summer scent, Dior Homme Cologne is well worth a shot.

Dior Homme Eau by Christian Dior

Given how much I adore the Dior Homme line of fragrances, I was excited to try out another flanker from them, Dior Homme Eau. I got a hold of a sample vial sprayer of this juice and tested it out of a few days. How does it smell? How’s the performance? How does it compare versus Dior Homme? Please continue below for my full review.

What does Dior Homme Eau Smell Like?

Notes include: coriander, cedar, grapefruit, amber, iris, bergamot

Click here to try: Dior Homme Eau For Men by Christian Dior for Men – 1.7 oz EDT Spray

My Full Wear Review

The opening of Dior Homme Eau is very much like Dior Homme, which is naturally to be expected. They aren’t exactly the same, but I’d say it’s 95%+ of the way there. The main difference to my nose, is that the cedar note is stronger in Eau than the original.

With that opening, I thought that this was going to be the only difference between the two, but the divergence really begins a bit later. Leather and cacao, don’t seem to be in this one, but the overall effect is the same.

Maybe a bit more citrus aroma up top in Homme Eau, with the stronger bergamot. Eau also has a noticeable grapefruit note, especially after the first 5-10 minutes.

Coriander is what really sets Eau apart from the original and after the opening, there is that slightly spicy and earthy herbal note, which feels as if it is sitting atop the cedar wood.

The aroma is a softer kind of freshness, that still retains its powdery iris note. I will say that the floral aspect of Eau, is much less than in Dior Homme, which some folks may enjoy more. Personally, I like the floral in Dior Homme, and wear it all the time.

The main draw of Eau throughout the rest of the wear is the cedar, grapefruit, and coriander trio. This has a woodier fragrance than its predecessor, a bit more spice, and the powdery iris takes on a slightly different aroma.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Projection wise, Dior Homme Eau is pretty moderate. It’s a solid performer in this regard, but never felt overbearing to me. The longevity is also good, about the same as the original Dior Homme.

I get 6-8 hours of solid wear and maybe some more as a skin scent. It’s pretty much right in line with the other fragrances in this series.

Eau is a versatile spring/summer wear. It’s bright freshness is a nice change of pace during the warmer months of the year. Yet, it keeps the woodiness of the cedar, that gives off that masculine aura.

The original Homme and Intense are much better suited for the cold, so, this one is a better option for guys who live in a warmer climate (for most of the year).

Eau is also a better fragrance than Dior Homme Cologne, which is pretty much just a lemonade scented fragrance. Update: I’ve really started to like Cologne more, over the past few years, since this initial review is from 2018. I might even favor it to Eau, nowadays.

I could honestly see myself wearing this during any occasion from casual to more formal. Plus, it’s attractive enough for a date night. There really doesn’t seem to be a place, where this wouldn’t fit in. Low key and very non-offensive.

Overall Impression of Dior Homme Eau

Overall, do I think Dior Homme Eau is a buy? Yes. I like it quite a bit, but not as much as I like Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense, which are interchangeable for me as to which is better. This one is a step below either in my opinion.

However, a step below those two giants, is still a really good cologne. Some folks actually like Eau the best of the bunch. I disagree with that assessment, but if you like cedar more than the iris note, this is probably a good bet.

I think Dior Intense has the best opening and Dior Homme has the best aroma, in totality. This one is simpler, very nice, with good performance. I really did enjoy the addition of the coriander here. The cedar and grapefruit give this a nice freshness, that’s a tad different from the others.

Also, this one has now been discontinued by Dior for 2020 apparently. So, be prepared to stock up on bottles, if this is your preferred Dior Homme flanker. Update: It’s getting pretty expensive to grab a bottle of Eau, so, you may want to forget about it unless you’re already a fan or collector.

Best Smelling Miss Dior Perfume?

What is the best Miss Dior perfume? There have been so many releases and variants under this name throughout the years, that it can be tough to sort through them. In this post, I want to present to you, my top four picks. Yes, this list will be in order.

Now, there have been reformulations, and those that are no longer on the market. As such, I will present the list based on available options and that are currently still composed in the same way as when released.

What are the Best Miss Dior Fragrances?

Best Smelling Miss Dior

Christian Dior Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming Women’s Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.4 Ounce– For now, this is the perfume that I think not only smells the best, but also has the best performance and sillage.

Absolutely Blooming adds juicy red berry notes to the mix, along with the familiar rose and peony. It is bright, upbeat, delicious, and has an interesting blend of fruit and floral notes.

This is probably the strongest of them and one that lasted a few hours longer than the other perfumes.

It’s not even supposed to be all that intense, but I found it to be better than the rest during testing, particularly versus the updated editions of other Miss Dior scents.

Some may prefer less fruit, in their Miss Dior fragrance, and for those this may not be the best option. However, it is one that is immensely popular for good reason. Absolutely Blooming Review

Dark and Deep Orange

Miss Dior Le Parfum by Christian Dior for Women – 2.5 oz Parfum Spray– Miss Dior Le Parfum is a very simple fragrance, but one that is still quite captivating, and my number two pick.

Update: As of 2023, Dior is no longer selling this directly. You’ll have to find it on the secondary market. Maybe, they’ll come out with a new formulation of Le Parfum, but I haven’t seen anything as of yet. It is becoming scarce, however.

It opens up with a sparkling mandarin orange note, which later gets replaced by rose and vanilla. The rose isn’t too involved and the vanilla blends with amber and patchouli.

This is the option for those who want a rich, dark, and deep aroma; that is still quite linear. It has a warm and creamy presentation that offers very nice performance. More of a cold weather fragrance. Miss Dior Le Parfum Review

Light Citrus and Peony

Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Eau De Toilette Spray 3.4 oz– Blooming Bouquet is a softer floral that features more peony than the rose note.

It starts off with a wonderful opening of bergamot and peony, that is a nice juicy fresh citrus. With the dry down, it is more floral, and there is a light musk note.

Blooming Bouquet is the lightest of the bunch, more of an airy perfume. It’s longevity is solid at around 7 hours, but not as good as the others. However, it’s scent is very beautiful and safe to wear on any occasion. Blooming Bouquet Review

Update: This one did get a newer 2023 version. It’s very similar to the early edition, referenced above. Probably a bit fresher, sweeter, and perhaps the rose and peony balance is a bit different. Nothing too major, however, as it wasn’t a complete do-over of the formula.

Balanced Rose and Patchouli

Miss Dior for Women by Dior 3.4 oz EDP Spray– This is one that creates a lot of confusion, due to name changes and reformulations.

Update: Another newer 2021 version has been released, since this was published. This one goes more with the iris, vanilla, and general clean powdery style versus the 2017 edition.

In this post, I am referring to the 2017 version of Miss Dior EDP, as it is the one that is being sold now. You can still find the 2012 version out there, but it’s not being produced anymore.

Anyway, this new Miss Dior, hits with orange and lemon from the start. These citrus notes are joined by patchouli, which is well blended and not too heavy. After the 10-15 minute run of the top notes, it becomes rose and patchouli dominant.

Miss Dior EDP does retain some sweetness, warmth from pink pepper, and a base of rosewood. It’s citrus/floral, then floral/spice with citrus undertones.

The projection is moderate and lasts for about 8 hours on the skin. It’s a very nice perfume, but my least favorite out of all of them.

Essence

Miss Dior Rose Essence– While it’s last on the list, it’s probably about the same overall as EDP and Blooming Bouquet. Rose Essence is just a bit of a different style from the rest, so, it’ll have a smaller audience.

This one isn’t a heavy rose. More like a rose water. A spiced rose water, that’s wholly fresh and shares the stage with a fantastic geranium note. Less of a pure feminine scent.

Early it’s a spicy woodsy kind of aroma, that’ll become a rose and woods smelling fragrance. It’s lighter with the sillage, but the performance is decent. Again, not going to be one for everybody, and I’d try to test it out before buying.

10 Best Christian Dior Perfumes for Women

Christian Dior has been an iconic brand since the start of the 20th century. After Christian Dior, died Yves Saint Laurent took over as head designer at the company before launching his own iconic fashion house. Dior makes beautiful and classy perfumes for women and ones which either fit specific occasions or more broad everyday usage.

For this list, I have selected what I feel are the top choices from their women’s line of perfumes or the unisex options. Keep in mind, some do get discontinued from the main lineup, but are still available at some places.

Also, Dior does change up the formula’s of some perfumes every once in a while, but keeps the same name. So, you might get a different experience depending on which year you get it. I’ve tried to update, as needed.

What Are the Best Smelling Ladies Dior Fragrances?

Bold Best Seller

Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior for Women 3.4 oz Eau de Toilette Spray
Warm, complex. seductive. This is one sexy fragrance and includes notes of sandalwood, vanilla, musk, almonds, moss, and many more. There are many flankers from the Poison line of perfumes and this is the best of the bunch, in my opinion.

Yes, the others are also very nice too, and should be considered if you don’t want a warm gourmand-like fragrance such as Hypnotic Poison.

The vanilla and almond lead the way and offer a sweet, creamy, and nutty aroma. Sandalwood provides the main support, along with another sweet creamy note, in coconut.

Hypnotic Poison is quite bold and will last all day on one’s skin, without any issue. This is a warm and enveloping scent, so, be careful with over-spraying at the office or such places.

Delicious Dior Privee

Fève Délicieuse– This is a unisex option from Dior’s Privee line of fragrances. I gave the nod to Ambre Nuit in my men’s list of the best Dior colognes, as I think that one would appeal to more men than Feve. But, that’s another awesome choice for ladies.

This one is sweet, warm, and has an awesome tonka bean note. Well, that, along with: caramel, vanilla, cherry, coffee, praline, and chocolate among floral notes. It’s sweet, but it never comes across as a baked goods gourmand, on my skin.

There are powdery qualities, lavender and rose touches, and a rather distinct herbal spiciness in the dry down. This one is kind of different, but feels familiar.

I never tried the older version of Fève Délicieuse, so I’m not entirely sure if it changed a great deal or what. But, this is a great little perfume.

Unique Woody Spiced Perfume

Dune By Christian Dior For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.4 Ounces
A lovely and elegant scent dating back to the early 1990s. It is fresh, sensual, and great for the warmer months.

Dune is dry and woody with sandalwood, rosewood, and amber being the main highlights. There are spiced notes and undertones of vanilla, which keep it sweet.

Dune is a very smooth and a pretty low key scent. It doesn’t have the same intense sillage, as Hypnotic Poison, but is still solid throughout.

This one could be a unisex fragrance, with its woody tones, and serves as a great change of pace from the usual popular fare.

However, there is enough of a feeling of brightness and some great floral additions that keep Dune far enough in the feminine camp. Mostly, it’s about amber, spices, and wood…just tied together in a more complex package. Dune Review

Dark Vanilla Floral

Dior Addict by Christian Dior for Women – 3.4 Ounce EDP Spray
Mandarin, rose, and vanilla give this a sweet oriental aroma that is sure to please. A refreshing, slightly spicy, and feminine perfume. There are of course two versions of Addict, an Eau de Parfum, and EDT.

The EDP is more of the vanilla note, leading the way, within the composition. It doesn’t have the jasmine, of the EDT version.

The EDT is much more floral than the EDP, which is more focused on the vanilla note. The EDT opens up with jasmine and mandarin orange being the most noticeable ingredients. It’s clean and has a soapy quality.

The mandarin isn’t a juicy sort of scent, it’s not fully ripe, and has green edge to it. The composition comes across as fairly dry.

Then, the vanilla and sandalwood notes come out later., but play a background role. The performance is quite good, and Addict EDT, is versatile.

I’ve linked the EDP version above, as that is the more popular of the two, and smells better to me. My full review of the EDT version: Dior Addict Review

The Fun and Youthful Poison Girl

Poison Girl Unexpected– Yes, Poison Girl has been the more popular pick. However, I enjoyed this flanker to a greater extent than the original. Update: I think this is discontinued now. I wouldn’t overpay for it, but grab a bottle if it’s reasonable.

Poison Girl Unexpected kicks things off with a pair of citrus fruit notes: lemon and blood orange. These a paired with tonka bean, vanilla, and ginger. It has a creamy and candy-like smell, with an additional saltiness provided by the ginger note.

What’s great about this, is how it transitions. Damascus Rose and ginger become the leaders and an almond/hazelnut blend gives this a nice underlying nuttiness.

Sweet, but not annoyingly so, and a really nice creaminess and overall performance. Poison Girl Unexpected Full Review

Sweet Honey, Fruit, Tobacco

Tobacolor by Dior– This is another unisex wear from the La Collection Privee. Tobacolor is a very sweet, warm, smoky, and rich perfume.

It is led by notes of plum and peach up top. Warm, ambery, thick with honey, almost like a jam.  The sweetness and smoky aspects here can pack quite a punch, early on, but Tobacolor will settle down…while retaining that essence.

As it dries down, the aroma actually does get drier. Dried fruits, cured tobacco, some spice, that smoke, and all wrapped up in the amber note. The performance delivers and that sillage stays pretty darn strong, even after the big open.

Warm and Sweet Peaches

Dolce Vita By Christian Dior For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.4 Oz.– Dolce Vita was a 1990s release from Christian Dior. This one is a bit spicy, but not overbearing, while also being warm and sweet. Peach, sandalwood, cinnamon, and cardamom help to create this effect among other notes.

The base is very woody with rosewood to go along with the aforementioned sandalwood note. Layered on top of that is cardamom and cinnamon, which give it the spicy kick and warmth.

Finally, the peach note gives Dolce Vita, its sucrose sweetness. It’s all sort of a modern take on a classic kind of formula. The sandalwood note is really great, when it has its time, within the composition.

dolcevita

Dior Floral/Fruity Perfume

J’adore By Christian Dior For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 3.4 Ounces
A very popular and great choice for daytime wear. Floral notes including jasmine, freesia, and ylang-ylang blend with slight fruity undertones to create a clean and bright perfume.

The floral notes open up with a bit of a water aroma attached to them. I get lots of ylang-ylang, jasmine, orchid, and freesia.

The rose really never was noticeable to me in this fragrance. While the flowers dominate the fragrance overall, there are fruit notes in here to help balance things out.

Mainly, plum and melon. J’adore is a softer perfume, though, not weak and it will indeed last 8+ hours on one’s skin. This is the type of perfume that has versatility and can serve as an everyday wear for a woman.  Read my full J’adore review

Ever-Changing, Still Popular

Miss Dior for Women by Dior 3.4 oz EDP Spray– So, Miss Dior EDP is one of the fragrances that keeps being updated. As of writing, the latest is the 2021 edition. See below, for more historical updates to this post.

Anyway, the newer 2021 version is a pinkish coloring highlighted by iris and rose notes. It’s powdery with plenty of vanilla and other sweetness. To me, it doesn’t stray way too much in any direction, Miss Dior remains classy and beautiful…just with a different style.

The dry down is more about the rose and peony than it is the iris. But, with the tonka bean, vanilla, iris, and musk combination this does retain some of its powdery qualities. Peach and apricot are really light, but present in the start of the wear.

Old version: A very feminine and versatile fragrance which feature Natalie Portman in the ads for it. It is a sweet scent for a woman who likes to carry herself with a certain level of class. Notes include: pink jasmine, strawberry sorbet, green mandarin.

Note: Dior has reformulated this perfume and released a newer version in 2017. It’s different now, here is my review on the 2017 update.

Top Miss Dior Pick

Christian Dior Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming Women’s Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.4 Ounce This is currently the best Miss Dior perfume that they have released to date. It’s got an opening of pomegranate and raspberry to go along with musk.

Later, the floral notes of peony and rose emerge, with the semi-sharp black currant.

Absolutely Blooming becomes more rose dominated later on, but its not overly so. It works within the blend of fruit notes and musk. The sillage on this one is strong and will last for over 10 hours on the skin.

The fruit notes go from the main attraction, to being a complement, to the floral ingredients that give the scent its name.

Absolutely Blooming is a very good choice for the spring and summertime. It is highly versatile, attractive, and performs well all around. Read my full Review

Dior Sauvage EDT vs. Elixir

Sauvage is a line that keeps printing money for Dior, and so, they’re obviously going to keep putting out new flankers for the foreseeable future. The latest, is Sauvage Elixir, an expensive and more concentrated take on the name. It’s enjoying early success, but how does this new fragrance compare to the original EDT. In this post, I will compare each in a variety of categories, before declaring an ultimate winner.

Sauvage Elixir or EDT? Tale of the Tape

Sauvage EDT

Read my review: Sauvage Elixir

Opening

Sauvage EDT starts off sharp with the citrus bergamot and Sichuan pepper notes out in full force. This is joined by that lavender note that is found across the Sauvage offerings. It’s intense and not all that great to my nose, especially when ambroxan gets thrown into the mix.

It does settle down and become more enjoyable and smooth. However, I’m not a fan of the pepper and bergamot combination. The lavender and ambroxan are nicer when they take the lead, as is the now faded citrus note.

Meanwhile, Elixir opens up with a lot of spice. Though, it doesn’t use the Sichuan pepper. Instead, you get cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom with a much lighter citrus note in grapefruit. This blend is wonderful and intense without the same sharpness.

The next phase will feature more of the lavender and some sweetness from licorice and amber. Sauvage Elixir is spicy, woody, with enough sweetness to keep it interesting. The licorice is a great addition to the composition, which helps this one stand out from the other Dior offerings.

Which is better? Elixir. This newer concentration is just all around more balanced and pleasant to smell upon the initial spray. It is stronger while simultaneously being more tolerable.

Edge: Elixir

Projection

The original Sauvage always had a strong sillage starting out and wasn’t ever weak at projecting. It does moderate after, but the EDT isn’t exactly a light cologne.

When compared to Elixir, the EDT is no match. Elixir has a very powerful ability to project and will be noticed throughout the entirety of the wear. Dior didn’t skimp out on the quality with this new release and it easily takes this category.

Elixir is one of the loudest mainstream fragrances out there and has a great ability to leave a scent trail in your wake. EDT definitely won’t be a disappointment, it can’t keep up with the heavier concentration of Elixir.

Edge: Elixir

Longevity

With Sauvage EDT, it lasts about 6-7 hours on my skin when it is warm and the humidity is higher. When it’s colder, I can get about 8-9 hours of wear from it. Some people get better performance than I do, but that’s been a consistent outcome for me.

Sauvage Elixir goes a lot longer than the EDT version. It really is a much more concentrated fragrance. I called it 12+ hours in my review, but it seems to go well beyond that 12 hour mark, during my testing of it.

Update: Even coming back to newer batches of EDT, it still hits that 6-8 hour range mostly. Elixir still goes heavy into the over 12 hour range without issue. It’s a beast as keeping things going.

Edge: Elixir

Versatility

Here’s where I think the EDT may have an edge over Elixir. For one, the EDT can venture into the summer months a lot better than Elixir can. Neither is a summertime fragrance, but the EDT won’t be overbearing in the heat, like Elixir.

Secondly, I think that the EDT can fit a wider spectrum of age range. Not many teens are going to be willing or able to rock the more mature Elixir, but they can and do wear the EDT version.

Elixir is the more mature, but it’s not really a formal wear. Daily wear and more well put together, but I think the EDT could fit for a wider demographic.

So, the edge really comes down to a wider climate range, age range, and just overall versatility. Not to say Elixir is limited, it isn’t, just that Sauvage EDT fits a lot of situations.

Edge: Sauvage EDT

Overall Scent

Sauvage EDT is a perpetual best seller. To me, it’s become just a decent scent. Sure, it kicked off a whole trend in the industry, but fragrances like Luna Rossa Carbon have done the concept better. Also, the later Sauvage EDP and Parfum were also greater than the original.

That being said, I do like the middle and final acts of the EDT a lot better than how it opens. The performance is solid and it’s still an easy to wear crowd pleaser. For many guys, it’ll do just fine.

However, in this contest Sauvage Elixir is the clear winner. It smells better, outperforms, and presents a unique take on the DNA of this line.

The lavender, patchouli, and vetiver are the only commonalities in terms of notes versus the other Sauvage colognes. The structure of spice, citrus, and woods holds true…but they substitute newer ingredients.

Elixir has a great mix of spices. The cinnamon and nutmeg just work amazingly well within the composition. The lavender feels more natural, the amber smoother, and the licorice note adds a further distinct character.

Sauvage Elixir is easily better than the EDT. The price is where a lot of people will draw the line. It’s not cheap, but if that’s not a concern go with Elixir. If you can, you might consider buying Elixir and something else that tries to copy Dior Sauvage for cheaper.

Winner: Sauvage Elixir
