Best Smelling Ladies Fragrances: Top 14 Perfumes for Women

There are plenty of great smelling women’s fragrances on the market. After all, stylish women always seem to want to smell great. However, there are always at least a few scents which stand out from the rest and deliver a unique sensory experience. The best pour femme brands aren’t always the most expensive nor are they always the most popular, they are the perfumes which stand the test of time and draw complements whenever they are worn. Scent should make a statement about one’s personality and sense of style and as such that statement should be a positive one. Nobody wants to be the heavily scented person which has those around them gasping for air by wearing either the wrong fragrance or too much of a decent one. With that in mind, I have selected 14 of best smelling perfumes for women on the market today. Each of these perfumes has been linked to its page on Amazon for ease of purchase and to read further reviews. Note: I have update the list for 2018, in order to expand upon each scent, and may indeed add some more fragrances in the near future that I feel are worthy.

Marc Jacobs Daisy by Marc Jacobs 3.4oz 100ml EDT Spray
Notes of wild strawberry, vanilla, violet, and jasmine among others. This is a fresh and long-lasting perfume with a lot of class. Daisy opens up with a watery blend of floral notes, as if they were freshly cut, and sitting in a vase. Violet is the main star, at this point, and is joined by gardenia plus jasmine. It’s light with a citrus edge due to the inclusion of grapefruit from the start.

From there, Daisy has a warm musky quality and a dry powdered aroma, that comes on later. The sillage is fairly moderate but I was able to get get a solid 7 hours of wear from this one without any problem. Mostly, this is an everyday wear for the office or casual occasion, and this Marc Jacobs fragrance is simply superb in the spring time. Creed Spring Flower by Creed for Women Millesime Spray, 2.5 Ounce
A floral scent but it does have fruity notes involved so it isn’t a straight floral. This is probably the best women’s fragrance from Creed and is both sexy and elegant.

Notes include jasmine, peach, apple, musk, melon, rose, ambergris.  Spring Flower is an uplifting fruity scent with bright, floral undertones. Melon, peach and apple are paired for a crisp and juicy sweet start to the wear.  Then, the rose and jasmine note usher in its flowery namesake, which is quite pretty.

Along with the typical Creed ambergris note, Spring Flower has a musky dry down that is fairly potent. The flower aspect is more prominent further along in the life cycle, with jasmine and musk being the highlights at that point. Meanwhile, the fruit notes have become more subdued.

Spring Flower isn’t really a heavy fragrance, more light to moderate. However, it provides good longevity, and versatility. It can definitely become a signature every day wear. Top Creed Perfumes List

Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf for Women, Eau de Parfum, 3.4 Ounce Spray
Very beautiful and feminine scent which would serve well as a signature scent for any woman. Easily one of the best and most popular floral based fragrance on the market. Flowerbomb’s composition is led by a blend of patchouli, jasmine, and orchid. Viktor & Rolf made sure that this one is no shy perfume, it lives up to its name, with great sillage and staying power.

It is a sweet fragrance but it doesn’t devolve into an overbearing floral mess. It is steadied by the addition of a great herbal tea note and the citrus of bergamot. Paris By Yves Saint Laurent For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 4.2 Oz.
A potential signature perfume that can be worn during the day or for a night on the town. This scent from the French design house was brought to market back to the 1980s and still has a classic vibe. Yes, there are many other fantastic options from Yves Saint Laurent, Black Opium is popular nowadays. However, this oldie, is a fantastic blend of floral notes that is soft yet completely comforting.

It is green and clean with rose and iris notes being the main combination in the composition. There is also violet, mimosa, and a multitude of other floral notes. This is all bolstered by a woodsy base of sandalwood and cedar. Paris does have a more mature style and isn’t as ‘modern’ as some of the others on the list. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.4 fl. oz.
A great fruity/floral perfume from Juicy Couture. This is a fairly inexpensive scent that still retains its unique qualities. This is also a sweet gourmand type of fragrance that has a sugary confectionery vibe to it. Viva La Juicy opens up with a citrus mandarin orange top note to go along with that familiar creamy aroma of vanilla and delicious caramel. 

It opens with that sweet, upbeat, and girly vibe. However, Viva La Juicy starts to dry down and the floral notes begin to emerge, namely jasmine and honeysuckle. It is much softer and less sweet, once you reach the base of the fragrance, where you’ll get a smooth sandalwood and musk to bolster the composition.

This one starts out rather strong, but will quickly turn into a perfume with essentially moderate sillage. The longevity is good, though, it doesn’t have some crazy 10+ hours of wear. Viva La Juicy is best used as an everyday wear for the colder months of the year. It really shines in the bitter days of winter, but absolutely can melt in summer.

 

Versace Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette Spray for Women, 3 Ounce

This highly popular Versace fragrance opens with a blast of juicy pomegranate and yuzo citrus, which creates that ‘bright’ and upbeat effect of the perfume. It a sharp citrus with a sweeter pomegranate and the result is remarkable. For a fruity/floral blend, Bright Crystal has a bit of an aquatic feel to it, but never strays into marine territory. However, this one is mainly a floral, and is led by a lovely peony note and a hint of lotus flower. This combination allows the perfume to separate itself from the usual rose-laden affair.

For a classy everyday wear, Bright Crystal performs very well. It’s sillage is none too intense and I’d classify it as light to moderate. BURBERRY Brit for Women Eau de Toilette, 3.3 fl. oz
Starts off with a fruity kick before settling down into its lighter undertones. This is always a best seller and for good reason because it smells great and isn’t too expensive. Burberry Brit starts off with the lovely almond note and a zesty lime note, which provides for a deliciously unique opening. It is lively and super smooth, before it moves into its warm and enveloping stage.

Next, the amber and vanilla move in, to be later joined by a creamy tonka bean note. This perfume begs to be worn on a cold and crisp day. Brit is fresh, sweet, and well put together. Bvlgari Pour Femme by Bvlgari, 3.4 oz Eau De Toilette Spray, for women (Bulgari)
Violet, jasmine, and orange blossom notes make this fragrance from Bvlgari a winner. It has a powdery floral profile and isn’t too heavy but delivers a very good performance. The sillage is moderate but it will hold on the skin. Bvlgari Pour Femme is layered and complex with a multitude of notes playing off of one another, particularly those floral notes, which creates a wonderful bouquet effect.

Bvlgari is clean and reminds one of a spring day. It is super safe for office wear and will last the entirety of being on the clock. It is a classic styled fragrance, with a refined elegance, and is wholly feminine. Plus, it’s not over saturated in the market, and doesn’t have millions of other women wearing it currently.

Coach Poppy Flower Eau De Parfum Spray for Women, 3.4 Ounce
This perfume from Coach really stands out as a fantastic smelling perfume. It is clean, fresh, and flirty. This is the original Poppy Flower which has spawned multiple flanker fragrances because it was such a best seller. It obviously is a floral but it has notes such as litchi, raspberry, and grapefruit that give it that fruity sweetness and pull it away from being a ‘green’ garden kind of perfume. It’s closer to an aquatic with a floral base. You get lily, rose, jasmine, and a strong peony note.

 

Dolce & Gabbana The One By Dolce & Gabbana For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 2.5 Oz /75 Ml.
This fragrance from Dolce & Gabbana has both a men’s and women’s edition, both are fantastic. The women’s fragrance is sweet, light, and settles into a sophisticated scent with its fruity notes. Classy, feminine, and all around a great smelling perfume for women. The One is much more fruity than is its flankers using the same name. Peach, litchi, plum, and bergamot play support staff to the prominent vanilla note. This is all wrapped up in a warm amber note, which gives The One a sumptuous baked goods quality. As it dries down, this perfume has a woody powdery aroma that smells delightful.

Guilty by Gucci for Women, Eau de Toilette Spray, 2.5 Ounce
This perfume from the Italian design house is not too heavy but has a bold blend of floral and spicy notes. Guilty has a beautiful opening and an amber spicy dry down, that helps to set it apart from so many other ladies’ fragrances on the market. It features a warm pink pepper notes and an amazing use of lilac that gets surrounded by vanilla and the cloudy amber. Though, Guilty doesn’t have that giant sillage, it does give a solid performance in its understated role. Bond No. 9 New York New Haarlem Eau de Parfum-1.7 oz
A unisex fragrance with notes of lavender, vanilla, coffee, and cedar giving New Haarlem a woodsy and oriental aroma which is simply beautiful. This bold scent was one of the originals released by Bond No. 9 in 2003 and still maintains it uniqueness to this very day. Lavender, bergamot, coffee, and cedar notes is a great choice for those who like to cause a stir. New Haarlem opens with that calming lavender note in the lead position. It is then joined by the sweet triumvirate of coffee, vanilla, and tonka bean. It is built for the cold weather months, with a super sweet composition that is aided by a rich ambery warmth. Bond No. 9 Chinatown Eau de Parfum Spary for Women, 1.7 Ounce
This fragrance from NYC boutique design house is another lovely fragrance inspired by the Chinatown section of New York. It starts out with an intense spice before the notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and orange flower settle it down into a uniquely sensual fragrance.

A spice laden perfume which is further blended together but floral and fruity notes to evoke the experience of Chinatown.  It opens with a white floral twosome of tuberose and gardenia, that is balanced out a top note of bergamot citrus and peach blossom, which prevents it from having that super floral quality. The cardamom really sets Chinatown apart from many other perfumes and adds a layer of depth, that takes it to another level of attractiveness, and prevents it from being just another floral.

This Bond No. 9 perfume is best in the cooler months of the year through springtime. The heat doesn’t really do it any service and kind of flattens the scent. However, the rest of the time, Chinatown could be a signature scent for a lot of women.

 

Diva By Ungaro For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 3.4 Ounces
A throwback to the early 1980s that is probably best worn by a mature woman. It is fairly inexpensive with nice woodsy notes and some florals. It’s kind of been forgotten about after being around for over three decades, which is understandable, but Diva is still one that can surprise you.

Diva is spicy while being sweetened by a fantastic honey note. It has an oriental constitution and really doesn’t have too many modern counterparts. In short, they really don’t make them like this any more. It has a woodsy/green oak moss note with rose-led floral notes and that distinct civet aroma. It’s complex and rich and wholly sophisticated. Definitely not for everyone, but it is a classic.
