Burberry Her by Burberry

Burberry Her is a line that Burberry has seemed to want to develop further over the past few years, ever since this one was released in 2018. They’re still coming out with flankers, so, I guess it’s going to continue for quite a while. I’ve tried Her EDP out before, but recently received a sample with an order from Macy’s…so, it’s time to do a full review. How does it smell? How long does it last? Is Burberry Her worth a try?

My Full Review

Let’s see how Burberry describes Her EDP: Effortlessly stylish, energetic, optimistic, adventurous and bold – the spirit of Her, captured in London – a beautiful, bustling, creative metropolis, eclectic and full of life.

Burberry Her opens up with its berry and citrus notes out in full force. I get a sparkling quality from the raspberry, a slight sharpness from the citrus, and a hefty dose of strawberry. On my skin, the strawberry definitely takes the lead early, and never lets it go entirely.

Since this one was designed by Francis Kurkdjian and has plenty of overlap with his famous Baccarat Rouge 540, it often gets compared. This one is much fruitier, has more of a spring/summer vibe, and is missing much of the depth.

Underneath the strawberry, I do get a hint of cherry and the other berry notes really just feel like a generic fruit note. It is sweet somewhat, but not overly so, it’s more bright/sharp/sour…pick your adjective.

One thing that I’ve noticed, is how weak the floral notes are in this mix. The jasmine does poke through later on, but it never grabs much attention. It’s there, just not doing very much. Perhaps, that’s just on my skin.

Later, it becomes muskier, woody, and resembles Cloud by Ariana Grande. Both have that general fruity sweetness, musk, and woods. Cloud is creamier.

That’s pretty much the development of Burberry Her. Bold berry and citrus start. Strawberry with a bit of jasmine. Then, sweet with musk and woods.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

The sillage here is pretty strong at first. Not monstrous, but I was impressed with its ability to project. On a t-shirt, I could smell it from up to about 7 feet away. That was at its peak, once Burberry Her settles, it is more in the 3-4 foot range.

Later, it’s even more intimate. Really, gets soft and very pleasant.

The performance isn’t lacking. This will stick around on my skin for 8 hours of wear. On fabric, it keeps going well past that. So, if you’re into the scent, you definitely get your money’s worth.

Seasonally, I like this best in the warmer weather. I’d keep it mostly to the spring or summertime (when not super hot out). The fruity notes really dominate and it would stick out in winter weather, but it should also be fine in the autumn coolness.

Burberry Her has a youthful vibe to its aroma. It would work for teenagers, but adults can wear this easily, if you’re into the fruity perfumes. It’s pretty crowd pleasing and simple, not at all a formal wear, nor is it cheap and tacky.

Mostly, a daytime casual wear or one that you could go lightly with in the office.

Overall Impressions of Burberry Her

Overall, do I like Burberry Her? I do. I’m not in love with it, though. The Intense version is actually better, in my mind. It just gets overshadowed because of the BR540 comparisons with Her EDP.

The red berry and citrus opening is really great for a while. But, each time I’ve tried to wear this one, it begins to grate on my nerves a bit. It’s not one that I’d need to scrub off or anything, just the intense strawberry and sharp/sour citrus gets somewhat old after a while.

Though, when I do stick with it, I end up liking the dry down of this more. It’s closer to Ariana Grande’s Cloud than it is Baccarat Rouge. Still, Burberry Her is distinct enough from both of them.

It’s funny, this has been so successful that there are starting to even be, supposed perfume ‘dupes’ of Burberry Her.

The floral notes are light on me. I mostly get the cleanliness of musk and wood in the dry down with the strawberry and the mass of whatever is left of the other fruits.

Is this worth a try? Yeah, it’s one to check out. I don’t know that I’d blind buy it, as you might not like the way the berries sit on your skin. It’s not the best perfume out there, but it’s solid and can be a nice choice for the right person.

Body by Burberry

So, it’s time for me to post another women’s perfume review. I got a few more ladies’ fragrance samples in my latest batch and so I thought that I’d write up my impressions of these scents to impart it to my female audience. Today’s review is going to cover, Burberry Body, a floral/fruity scent that was released in 2011. In this post, I want to cover how it smells and develops, how it performs, when it should be worn, and whether or not it is worth a purchase. Also see: Body vs London Perfume Comparison

What does Burberry Body Smell Like?

Notes include: peach, musk, rose, sandalwood, amber, iris, vanilla

My Full Review

The opening blast of Body is headed by the peach note, with rose and a warm musk providing supporting roles. Initially, it is creamy and fruity but after 10 minutes or so the rose and the iris bring on a very floral profile.

The peach definitely dominates the top of the order. However, it is joined by what is apparently wormwood. I’m not too familiar with the aroma, so, it can be pretty hard to describe it. Nonetheless, I don’t find it to be distracting or anything terrible.

Rose, musk, and woods do start to peak in after that opening. Again, the first phase after that is mostly floral to my nose. Then, it switches to being something woodier and somewhat musky. The sandalwood is the most apparent wood note, that my nose picks up in the composition.

Body is quite smooth and mellowed out by the sandalwood and vanilla notes that creep in the background. In the dry down phase, you get a rose/peach blend with a warm and slightly spicy musk.

In the end, it is the rose with some peach, woody notes, and a spiciness. Still, has a light and cleaner type of vibe. Not a heavy scent at all, but rather, one that will feel like a natural extension of your skin.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Projection wise, Burberry Body is pretty strong. The sillage won’t fill up an entire room (unless you overdo it) but you’ll definitely know it is there. In its entirety, I’d say that this one has above average power, just not elite.

It also has very good longevity, I sprayed it on my wrist for an initial test, and it was still chugging along during the evening. I finally just had to scrub it off with soap and water because I was tired of smelling like a girl haha. Coming back to it on another day, it seemed to approach the double digit hour mark, without any issue.

Body is an everyday wear, that would be good for casual occasions. I wouldn’t classify it as a sexy or date night perfume, though, I do find it attractive and wouldn’t mind smelling it on a girl I was dating. So, office wear, casual, semi-formal, etc.

It seems like it would work best during fall or early spring when the weather isn’t too hot. The wood, vanilla, and musky base might very well melt in the high heat or humidity. Though, in the cooler weather it turns out quite nicely, and you get the full aromas of each note.

Overall Impression of Burberry Body

Overall, would I recommend Burberry Body? Yes, it is a very nice casual perfume for women. If you don’t like roses or peach in your fragrances, I’d probably skip this one if I were you.

It’s more floral/woody than fruity. So, if that isn’t you, go with another option. Body won’t blow you away but it gets the job done. I like the peach top and the later creamy blend of sandalwood/vanilla. It is an interesting and well-rounded perfume, kind of dry later on, but the rose and peach stick around for the long run.

My Burberry Blush by Burberry

So, among the samples that I received, I did pick up some more ladies’ perfumes to review. Many of the others are already unisex, but I made sure to get at least a few feminine scents. Today’s entry is another one from Burberry. An Eau de Parfum, entitled, My Burberry Blush. How does this one stack up? How does it perform? Is it worth a purchase?

What does Burberry Blush Smell Like?

Notes include: pomegranate, green apple, rose petals, jasmine, lemon

My Review

The opening of My Burberry Blush gives you a blend of mostly the green apple and the rose petal notes. The pomegranate is there, but I think it becomes more of a factor about 10-15 minutes into the wear.

I’m not too excited by the opening as it has a bit of that Glade plug-in chemical air freshener smell. However, it does get better in my mind, as it dries down. The apple feels pretty synthetic and with the rose, does really take on that artificial sort of scent.

The second act is where you’re going to get the aroma, that pretty much lasts until it dies out. The pomegranate and the lemon notes, begin to overpower the apple and it is a fruity and bright sort of perfume.

It is these juicy fruit notes over the floral notes (rose and jasmine), My Burberry Blush, doesn’t stray into super ‘girly’ territory though. I think that this is an adult type of fragrance, more refined and juicy, rather than candy-like sweetness.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

Projection wise, it performs fairly well. It isn’t an absolute bomb, but you could overdo it if you tried. It doesn’t need many sprays to be effective. I’d keep it between 2-3, for most situations. It’s not really a nightlife scent, so, it’s tough to say when exactly you’d need more.

Longevity is also somewhere in the 6-8 hour range, from what I could tell, while wearing it. Again, not crazy longevity, but will last about a full work day. Coming back to Blush for a second time, I got about 7 hours of solid wear, while being indoors. Solid, not amazing.

My Burberry Blush is an upbeat semi-casual wear for the spring and summer months. I’m not sure as to its effectiveness on a date or some similar event, though. If a woman I were dating was wearing this, I would think that she smells good, but I wouldn’t be enthralled by it.

Mostly, keep it to work or casual or semi-formal events, when it is warmer outside. It’s clean and gives you a juicy fruit profile, with floral touches.

Overall Impressions of My Burberry Blush

Overall, do I like My Burberry Blush? It’s decent. It’s a nice juicy fruit/floral blend and seems pretty generic or non-descript. I’m not sure that I could pick it out of a lineup, as it smells similar to a lot of scents I’ve encountered before.

The opening 10 minutes aren’t the greatest, but it does settle down later on. It also gives good performance, so at the right price, this good be a solid casual option for ladies. Just not earth shattering.

My Burberry Blush is very clean and juicy up top. Later, it sort of dries off, and gives you an almost soapy blend of fruity ingredients and flowers like rose and wisteria.

My Burberry EDT by Burberry

My Burberry EDT is sample that I apparently purchased a few years ago and never got around to trying out. I’m always misplacing samples. Anyway, I finally gave it a go, in order to review it for the site and share my thoughts on this fragrance. How does it smell? Is it even worth a try?

What does My Burberry EDT Smell Like?

Notes include: peach flower, peony, freesia, white moss, damask rose, and musk

My Full Review

My initial thoughts after spraying My Burberry EDT are just how cool, fresh, and slightly water the composition is. Up top, I get the slight fruitiness provided by the peach blossom, freesia, and the damask rose.

The rose note isn’t heavy or overpowering the other floral ingredients, but it is there throughout the wear. Actually, the entire thing comes together as very well blended and you cannot always distinguish the exact notes.

However, after that initial phase, the peach blossom moves along and the peony steps into its place. Also, at this point in time, I get more of the earthiness of the moss and the musk. It’s all very pleasant and familiar to other floral fragrances, but My Burberry still feels unique to some extent.

The final dry down is the peony and rose, with the moss and musk. There isn’t a ton of development with this one, but I do personally get these three separate stages.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

The sillage is on the lighter end of moderate, on my skin. This EDT isn’t going to blow the doors off and generally stays within a few feet of the wearer. Not a heavy and enveloping scent, rather, it is clean and light.

The longevity is pretty good, but not outstanding. It’ll hit the six or seven hour mark. Most of the time, closer to that 6 hour time frame. Again, useful, just not an outstanding performer.

Seasonally, My Burberry is great for spring and summer. However, it wouldn’t feel out of place for most of the rest of the year. Maybe just stay away from the absolute coldest depths of winter.

It is also and extremely versatile daily wear scent. It’s low key, smells nice, and isn’t going to offend almost anyone. It can be worn to work, school, casual, or even more formal occasions. Not really a nightlife or romantic wear, but it does have its own charming attractiveness.

Overall Impressions of My Burberry EDT

Overall, do I like this perfume? I do. The opening act with the peach blossom is my favorite part of the wear. After that, I still find it enjoyable, just not to the same extent. Though, I think that it’s well above average in how it smells in totality.

The performance is okay, nothing to write home about, but not a complete disappointment. If you want a fresh floral bouquet with some light peach touches, this is one worth considering. My Burberry EDT can absolutely be an easy reach for daily wear. Not ground breaking, but not one that I have any serious complaints about either.

Burberry Body vs London Women’s Perfume Comparison

In this post, I want to compare two ladies’ fragrances from the British brand Burberry, London and Body. These are both popular choices from this design house and I’m going to break down each to see which one I think is a better buy. I want to cover how each smells, how it performs, when it should be worn, and which one has the overall edge when put side to side.

Opening

The opening of Burberry Body is a fruity floral blend of peach, rose, and a warm hint of musk. London also shares the rose note to go along with a floral bouquet that is supported by tangerine.

I personally like the London blend better as I enjoy the tangerine over the heavier peach note in Body.

Edge: London

Projection

Both of these perfumes score very well on the projection and performance front. Body and London are towards the stronger end of things and won’t disappoint in this department. I think that London is just slightly better in terms of its projection range but not by much.

Edge: London (slightly)

Longevity

Again, both perfumes perform very well and will give 8+ hours of wear and still be chugging along. On my skin, there wasn’t a clear winner in this category, solid performers.

Edge: Push

Versatility

These two are great for everyday and casual wear. I wouldn’t say that Body is a ‘sexy’ or ‘romantic’ type of fragrance and while London isn’t really either, I do think that it is better in that regard.

Neither is a summertime perfume but are good to go during the rest of the year. This is another slight edge to London.

Edge: London

Overall Scent

To me, it comes down to whether you want a creamy peach with woodsy, floral, and a spicy musk type of scent (Body) or whether you want a floral perfume with an added layer of tangerine note.

I think that London smells better, I don’t dislike Burberry Body but it feels like a notch below its competitor.

Winner: London
