9 Fragrances Similar to Versace Bright Crystal

Bright Crystal by Versace has remained a best selling ladies’ fragrance, since its initial release. People seem to really enjoy this scent, for its clean mix of yuzu and peony, and versatile style. As such, folks want to try to capture a similar experience with other perfumes.

In this post, I aim to give you the options to do so. Now, for this scent in particular, I haven’t found any cheaper exact aromas like that of Bright Crystal.

Update: I have now found and added some to the list. However, I do have fragrances that share a similar aroma, or common sensibility with the Versace scent.

Perfumes that Smell Like Bright Crystal by Versace

Inspired By

Fruity Magnolia by Dossier– So, as far as perfumes go that try to closely replicate the aroma that you get with our Versace target, Fruity Magnolia from Dossier seems to be the best bet.

Others on the list are going to produce a similar style and some overlapping note. This one, is made to try get the Bright Crystal experience beat for beat.

I haven’t tried this one out personally, but I have tried others out from Dossier and they lived up to my expectations. Bright Crystal isn’t a very complicated formula to match and the reviews seem positive.

If you want a cheaper alternative, this is going to be the one, for under $30 currently (as of last update).

Inspired by the Other Bright Crystal

Absolute Crystal Glow by Dua– This one from Dua isn’t inspired by the original Bright Crystal, rather, it tries for a resemblance to Absolu (listed below).

The pomegranate and yuzu opening is going to be there, with what I hope is the same boldness that you get with Absolu.

This is another of these designer inspired options that I haven’t tried out. The Dua Brand is a company that I’ve bought like 10 other fragrances from and they’ve all been of great quality. Plus, close in matching what the original designer fragrance smells like. Affordable and worth a try.

Bright Reflection

Pisa Reflection– Here’s another perfume option that is based on our target’s note structure. This time from Fragrenza, a brand that I’ve purchased from before, and had some really quite good inspirations of other designer wears.

Their BR 540 was good and I think a few of the Kilian inspired scents were very close to the originals and had long-lasting formulas.

I have not tried this one out, as of yet, but I’ll add this to the list for those who want to give it a whirl and don’t want to go with the Dossier

Ice, yuzu, pomegranate, magnolia, and lotus (among others) should make Pisa Reflection one to check out.

The Other Bright Crystal

Versace Bright Crystal Absolu Eau de Perfume Spray, 3.0 Ounce– Obviously, the flanker fragrance, is going to have lots of similarities to the original Bright Crystal. However, Absolu, has a stronger presence and the strength of the fruit notes have been enhanced.

It’s sweeter and has somewhat less peony than the original does, but with bolder sillage and has better longevity. This can be a good option for those, who are looking for a greater performing version of Bright Crystal.

Discontinued Dior

DIOR ADDICT 2 by Christian Dior EDT SPRAY 1.7 OZ for WOMEN Addict 2 is probably the most similar of any fragrance, outside of Absolu, to our target. Not an exact match, but pretty darn close. The main difference, is the lack of peony.

However, it replaces that with freesia and lotus. You get pomegranate and citrus, just tweaked, from Bright Crystal. For instance, there is a strong pineapple note, in Addict 2.

This one has been discontinued, so, it’s getting tough to find bottles and it can be expensive. Honestly, it’d just be better to stick with the Versace.

Similar Style from Gucci

GUCCI ENVY ME Perfume By GUCCI For WOMEN Envy Me is an older fragrance, that you can still find bottles of online. This Gucci perfume isn’t a one to one or note for note scent, but it does share some of the same ingredients, and overall structure as Bright Crystal.

In here, you get pineapple, litchi, and mango; instead of the lemon. But, you get a strong peony and some pomegranate, thrown in also. Envy Me is a fun scent, with the fruity/floral composition, just not the same citrus led aroma.

Lighter and Fruitier

Bŭrberry Brit Sheer For Women 1.6 fl. Oz Eau de Toilette– Brit Sheer really does deliver a similar style to Bright Crystal. It’s close to it, but much fruitier at the top, softer, and dries down with the peony being dominant.

Bright Crystal is probably more balanced than this one, while, you get front-loaded with much of the citrus notes here.

Sheer is an easy to wear perfume that is clean, won’t overpower, and gives you a nice floral/musk dry down.

More Floral and Woody

Chloe New for Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 2.5-Ounces– This is one has some overlap and brings a similar experience. A nice, moderate scent by Chloe. New is a complex and feminine scent that isn’t too bold but will add a bit of warmth and class to any woman.

Notes include: Magnolia, rose, lily of the valley cedar wood base, amber. The rose is the most prominent of the floral notes, with a somewhat powdery aroma, and the addition of a very solid peony.

Chloe EDP has a nice woodiness in the dry down, that helps to give it a more solid base, and the performance on this one is pretty outstanding. Its sillage can be powerful and will go the full day.

Similar Style, Differing Notes

Very Irresistible By Givenchy For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 2.5 Ounces A deliciously seductive fragrance by Givenchy. It blends rose and peony among other notes, to create a long-lasting and beautiful affair, which adds a bit of spice to the floral notes.

It opens with the rose note and anise, which provides the fresh spice complement, to the floral aroma. As it dries down, the peony comes into its own, and takes Very Irresistible away from being more of a pure rose fragrance.

This one will last a full 8 hours, isn’t a sillage beast, and works very well in the spring/summer months. Nice ,can give off a similar vibe, and inhabits the same sort of style.  Full Review

Meow by Katy Perry

Chugging along my sample fragrance reviews, I’m coming back to the celebrity releases, with one from Katy Perry. Meow! is one of her more popular perfumes and I’d say for good reason. I already liked this scent, but wanted to do a deeper dive. Meow was a 2011 release from this line. How does it smell? What’s the performance like? Is it actually worth a buy?

What does Meow Smell Like?

Notes include: tangerine, pear, lily of the valley, honeysuckle, gardenia, jasmine, vanilla, sandalwood, musk, sandalwood

Click here to try: Katy Perry Meow Eau De Parfum Spray for Women, 3.4 Ounce

My Full Review

To my nose, Meow opens up with vanilla and a nice juicy/sparkling pear, surrounded by floral notes like jasmine and particularly gardenia. It’s not a gardenia heavy scent, but it sort of gets wrapped in the vanilla and pear sweetness, which creates a beautiful little aroma.

After about 10 minutes, I can detect a citrus aroma, which is the tangerine and orange flower joining forces. It’s very subtle, around only briefly, but it was totally there on my skin.

This is definitely a vanilla dominant fragrance, a very sweet vanilla, that is only bolstered by the fruity ingredients.

As it dries down, it stays fairly close to this formula. A sugary vanilla, with fruit notes, and a light blend of floral notes. One difference, is the emergence of a warm amber note. Not super potent, but it pulls things together.

One thing that I really enjoy about Meow, is that even in its relative simplicity, is how I periodically get to smell individual flowers. Mostly, its the gardenia, but there is also some honeysuckle and jasmine.

Like the other Katy Perry perfumes, Meow isn’t a highly complex scent, but it sticks to its fundamental core quite well.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

In terms of its sillage, Meow isn’t a heavy or extremely well projecting perfume. It’s actually decent at it, for the first couple of hours. I think the sweetness of the scent, gives off the illusion that it is bolder, than it actually is.

Nonetheless, I don’t find it to be weak or a bad performer. It’ll leave a scent trail behind you for a while and holds up well for a time.

It stuck to my skin for right around 6 hours. By no means, is that amazing, but we are dealing with a sub-$20 fragrance. For the price, you do get value. Plus, it doesn’t turn into a weak skin scent within 15 minutes, so, six hours of performance is good enough.

Seasonally, pretty much fits anytime. Maybe, the absolute hottest days of summer, would be a pass but that’s it. I’d say that it’s best in autumn and into early springtime. Just find something else for the heat.

This is a rather girly perfume, but honestly isn’t ‘childish’, just a sugary aroma. It’s  going to skew younger, but I think that this is a better quality scent versus many others of this ilk, and older women could enjoy it also.

Probably don’t want to wear Meow professionally, but as a casual scent, it will work well. It’s something you can throw on during your day and get a delicious boost. It’s fun, fairly linear, but still smells good. Just don’t expect anything hyper unique or sophisticated.

Overall Impression of Meow by Katy Perry

Do I like this perfume? I do. I actually think that I prefer it to Purr by Katy, as well. Yes, this type of fragrance has been done plenty of times before, but this is an attractive example at a cheap price.

There are a ton of perfumes out there for under $25, that are poor quality and basically trash. Meow is not that.  This Katy Perry release overdelivers versus my expectations of it, but doesn’t ever hit an elite level. Sticks to a basic formula and doesn’t try to go too deep.

If you don’t like the sugary sweet kind of aromas, don’t get this. If you’re a fan of vanilla and pear, this will be a super affordable option for you. I really like the vanilla here, simple gourmand. The floral hints that I caught throughout, also made this a nice wear.

Is it the best thing ever? No, but it’s a great little celebrity scent, that actually gives you your money’s worth.

4 Perfumes Similar to Obsession for Her

Obsession by Calvin Klein was an absolute powerhouse back in the 1980s, both in terms of its sales total, and its bold sillage. Seriously, this stuff could and still probably can, fill a room. With such a classic status already achieved, there are going to be plenty of women, trying to find something that can match what it did or at least feel similar to this perfume.

Well, there has been some reformulation of the classic, so the current Obsession isn’t exactly the same. It’s probably still most of the way there, however. As such, I’m going to try to get some close options between the two. Is there a cheaper clone? What scents smell alike?

What Perfumes Smell Like Calvin Klein’s Obsession?

Softer and More Floral

Must De Cartier By Cartier For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.3 oz
Must is a warm and beautifully sweet fragrance that is great for casual wear and is long-lasting. Must De Cartier is a softer perfume but one that is well-crafted and has many admirers.

This is a good alternative, for those who still want designer fragrance quality, but without the same intensity level as Obsession. You do get some spice, but not to the same level, and probably a greater floral profile as well.

Must de Cartier features plenty of wood dipped in amber with vanilla and tonka bean playing support roles. However, this perfume is not that simple, as there is also floral notes and sweet floral notes involved too. At times it is green, sweet, spicy, but it all settles into something refined and classic.

Less Spice, More Resinous

OPIUM For Women By YVES SAINT LAURENT Eau de Toilette Spray 3 oz
An exotic classic that is spicy and oriental in its presentation. Mandarin, myrrh, jasmine, and bergamot.

This YSL perfume has always been in the same close family of fragrances, to Obsession. I would say, that the spices are toned down here, while the amber/resin/balsamic qualities are amped up.

Opium is a sensually intriguing experience that drives the imagination to dream up distant lands. Beautiful. Obviously, since the release in the 1970s, this perfume has undergone reformulations as just about everything has to.

However, the newer incarnation, is still a very nice fragrance. It still has its spicy, warm, and sweet notes with its underlying herbal and citrus tones that waft up throughout the wear. Opium has retained its charm and is actually a breath of fresh air when compared to many newer releases.

The Other Obsession

Calvin Klein Obsession For Men Cologne, .5 fl oz– Yes, one alternative to the ladies’ version of Obsession, is the men’s version. They were always closely connected, and the men’s, never went too far masculine to make it unwearable for women. In fact, it’s close to unisex.

Obsession has a lovely spice to it and features notes of mandarin, sandalwood, and amber. It’s got a great cinnamon led warmth and spice, that is supported by the nutmeg. The amber creates a sort of an envelopment around the person wearing it and this is one of the reasons, that Obsession is so good during the winter time.

This is such a rich and enticing scent, good for everyday wear, but can also pull double duty as a date night go to. There is sweet vanilla and nutmeg, which help to round out the fragrance, and create a memorable wear.

Spicy and warm, yes, but also a smoky balsamic element that peaks through at times. The classic formulation of this was amazing, but it is still holding up well today.   My Obsession review

obsession

Another Similar 80s Perfume

Moschino By Moschino For Women. Eau De Toilette Spray 2.5 OuncesThe original fragrance dating back to the late 1980s. A long lasting blend of florals, vanilla, and spice which gives it an exotic and special scent. It’s classic and gives you a different experience from most of the perfumes, out on the market today.

Moshcino when compared to Obsession, is a lot less spicy. Amber is there for sure, but you get a whole host of floral notes, which play a larger role in this composition. Also, a lighter sillage, in comparison.

Moschino is a rather complex composition, but still manages to be extremely well blended. You get herbal spice, green notes, but more warmth and periods of sweetness. All of this comes together with floral notes, such as: rose, marigold, gardenia, and carnation.

Very unique and great performance, with deep and satisfying aroma. Moschino for Women is an underrated classic.

5 Best Smelling Beyonce Perfumes

Beyonce has established herself over the years as a mega pop star in music, and over the past several years, her line of fragrances have enjoyed immense popularity also. For this list, I have chosen five perfumes by Beyonce, which I feel are the best of her line of ladies’ fragrances.

Each of these scents, is obviously very affordable, and I’ve tried to select something for every taste while sticking to the best of the product line. Also see: Britney Spears top perfumes, Rihanna

What are the Best Perfumes by Beyonce?

Note: This older line of fragrances has had a new addition in some years. However, Beyonce is introducing a newer high-end perfume here in 2023. Rihanna went a similar route with her line of perfumes, when she released Fenty. So, I’ll update the list again, if the newer ones are worthwhile. Until then, this is the best of the more affordable lineup.

Best Overall Scent

Beyonce Beyonce Midnight Heat Women Eau De Parfum Spray, 3.4 Ounce
A sensual and seductive fragrance, which I feel is the best of the lot, though others are quite close quality. Midnight Heat is a fresh blend of fruits and florals that will set the tone wherever you go. You get a deep and dark plum note, with the starfruit giving the composition a unique edge.

It definitely has a full complement of a tropical set of fruits and flower notes. Juicy and captivating, with a sweet creaminess, that begins to come through shortly after the opening minutes. The plum really shines in this one.

Then, patchouli spice, and the usual Beyonce orchid set in the background. Really attractive and interesting. Notes include: Starfruit, plum, patchouli, and sandalwood.  Also check out, Sexiest Perfumes for Women

Top Summertime Pick

Beyonce Pulse Eau De Parfum Spray for Women, 3.4 Ounce
A really nice everyday wear that projects confidence and energy. Pulse is one that will draw plenty of complements and won’t quit on you after a few hours like some fragrances. It has a sparkling and a bit of a colder side to it, before warming up later in the wear.

This one goes harder on the citrus notes and switches it up, with curacao as a main note to go with those fruits. You also get a creamy vanilla, which comes along in the dry down. The pear and citrus really combine to give it that bright and upbeat vibe.

It is fairly straightforward as a perfume, but delivers quite an enjoyable experience. Notes include: mandarin, pear, ginger orchid, orange blossom.

Most Popular Perfume

Beyonce Heat By Beyonce For Women Eau De Parfum Spray, 3.4-Ounce / 100 Ml
Warm, feminine, and elegant. Beyonce Heat is a delicious daytime fragrance for ladies which blends exotic fruit and floral notes.

Notes include: sequoia milkwood, almond macaroon, blush peach, magnolia, tonka bean, neroli, amber, creme de musk, red vanilla orchid, honeysuckle nectar.

The Heat series, is among the best that the Beyonce lineup has to offer. This is probably the most well-known of any of her releases. Sweet with a creaminess and fruity touches.

Almond, amber, peach, and nectar give you a sense of its overall warmth. Kind of distinct fragrance, from the others on the list, which have more of a juicy fruit personality.

heat

Best Fruity Fragrance

Beyonce Heat Rush for Women Eau De Toilette Spray, 3.4 Ounce– A very fruit wear, that is led by passion fruit, cherry, and orange. It all comes together as juicy and sweet.

It’s a good alternative for those who don’t like Pulse. I think that one is the better scent overall, more complex, but Heat Rush is also enjoyable.

Heat Rush taps into that exotic/tropical fruit part of the fragrance spectrum, but the background floral notes of hibiscus and orchid, really help bring things together.

This is a solid option for summertime wear, it has a playful attractiveness, without being overly loud or distracting. Heat Rush is a much more sheer and less of a creamy amber sort of scent, when compared to the original Heat.

Tropical, fun, and has a really good energy to it. Not super complex, but I think the blood orange note, is a nice touch. I just liked the energy and dynamic fruity aroma.

Nice Woody Scent

Beyonce Rise Eau De Parfums Spray for Women, 3.4 Ounce Rise opens up with a sweet apricot top note, which is joined by orchid and jasmine floral ingredients. The fragrance is lighter and stays close to the skin, with a musky and woody dry down, that includes cashmere wood.

It’s is a warm, slightly spicy, and powdery in the latter stages but a real change of pace, from others on the list. The apricot is great, but this one is low key, and one that is going to give you more of a traditional type of woody/musk finish…which not everyone enjoys.

Nonetheless, I appreciate its uniqueness versus the other options in this line, and think that it’s a good deal at this price point. It’s at least, a cozy and versatile wear, that one can get plenty of use out of.

7 Fragrances Similar to Narciso Rodriguez for Her

Narciso Rodriguez for Her has been an insanely popular perfume since its release. It’s not too complex but provides its wearers with a nice blend of floral notes, musk, and patchouli. It has a good amount of versatility without trying to do anything extreme or out of the ordinary.

However, it can be too pricey for some or not exactly what others are looking for. So, in this post, I want to present 7 alternative scent options to Narciso for Her that closely resemble this perfume.

Perfumes that smell like Narciso Rodriguez for Her

Inexpensive Inspiration

Musky Rose by Dossier– As far as ‘inspired by’ options of Narciso Rodriguez for Her go, Dossier’s Musky Rose comes out at the top for its price savings and ability to near match what we’re looking for.

The notes are going to be the same as the designer perfume, but you might find that the weightings of each might not be exact, just extremely close. Which is a great deal for under $30 per bottle (as of this update).

It kicks off with the blend of the floral and fruitier notes. Osmanthus, kind of gives you the impression of both, while peach and bergamot come down firmly in the fruity camp. Early orange blossom, before you get more rose and finally the musky main event.

Lovely (listed below) will get you something similar yet different to NR for Her for cheap, but Musky Rose is what you’d want to go with if you’re in the market for an attempt at recreating its magic.

Best Cheaper Alternative

Lovely– If you’re looking for a cheapie fragrance that mimics most of what you get with Narciso Rodriquez for Her, Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker is probably the best option on the market. It’s been a best seller in its own right for well over a decade now.

It is a mature and moderate scent with notes of musk and apple martini as its main attraction. A great all-around fragrance for everyday wear that is elegant and refined.

It kicks off with a nice dose of musk and lavender. This is paired with the apple, mandarin orange, and an orchid note for good measure.

Obviously, with what we’re trying to find we will want not only the musk, but also a solid patchouli. Lovely has that as well, mostly during the drydown period of the perfume. The fragrance is affordable and has good performance, I found it to stick around for 6-7 hours during my testing of it.  Lovely Full Review

Noir Rose Alt

Her Midnight Rose Musc by Dua– Aside from the original Narciso for Her, there are also a ton of popular flanker fragrances which have followed, including Musc Noir Rose.

This is the Dua Brand’s inspired by version of that release.

With that one, you get a sweeter, fruitier, musky clean, and creamy/powdery blend. Yes, vanilla creaminess and suede smoothness together.

It starts off with bergamot citrus and some light pink peppercorn. The vanilla will be there from early on and this is when the perfume will be at its absolute sweetest (not overwhelmingly so).

The tuberose and musk really come into their own during the back half of the wear and are great together.

The Narciso version is not a super thick or heavy perfume, and hold up well in the spring or even summer months. The latter stages are more of a smooth soapy sort of rose aroma and less of that initial sweetness.

I haven’t tried this Dua take on this perfume, but I’ve owned over a dozen of their other scents and have been quite pleased.

A Peachy Take

Narissa Peach by Maison Alhambra– This brand has a ton of their own inspired by perfumes which take on the designer scents. Basically, every flanker has an inspiration available and this is their take on Narciso Poudree.

Now, Poudree isn’t one of my personal favorites from the Narciso Rodriguez lineup, but I’m sure somebody is looking for a release like this.

It’s the usual clean and musky formula, but with a more powdery finish and a generally sweeter profile than others in the series. Soft jasmine and tonka bean are some highlights in the mix.

Similar with Peach and Jasmine

Tocca Beauty Cleopatra Collection 1.7 oz Eau de Parfum Spray– Cleopatra features some sweet fruit notes such as, peach, and flowers including jasmine and tuberose.

It has plenty of overlap with the Narciso perfume, but enough unique elements to help Cleopatra stand out.

The tuberose and the jasmine lead things, it’s more of a floral/fruity fragrance, with the peach and others popping up throughout the duration of the wear. This is all held together with musk and some light patchouli, which are a great tandem within this composition.

Despite it’s floral/fruity nature, this Tocca perfume does still feel fruitier than either Lovely or Narciso for Her. Again, it still leans floral, but there is a decent amount of fruity sweetness.

Another Inexpensive Choice

Beckham Signature Story by David Beckham, 2.50 Ounce– Signature Story by David Beckham does have a lot of similarities with the Sarah Jessica Parker offering. That option, is somewhat better when looking for a smell close to Narciso Rodriguez for Her.

However, Signature story also provides a cheap option to give you a similar scent experience. It opens with both orange and peach and the ever present musk.

A very clean and feminine scent with a hearty helping of rose. Also, a citrus top provided by orange and peach, to go along with a warm/spicy musk note. The main difference between this and all of the others, is the use of rose and peony as the floral ingredients. It does let this one stand on its own a bit, rather than just being another one trying to be just like Narciso.

Signature Story was a flanker fragrance to the original Beckham Signature. Though, the two really don’t have anything in common other than the name, and patchouli. Very musky floral, during the dry down, heavier on the peony and rose.

Similar Designer Perfume

Idylle by Guerlain, 3.4 Ounce– Guerlain’s Idylle isn’t an exact copy of Narciso Rodriguez, but it is in the same general fragrance family. This one opens up with litchi and raspberry, giving it more of a juicy sweetness than you’d find in our target.

Nonetheless, Idylle is much more about the floral notes. Mainly, I pick up on the lily of the valley and a light rose. Though, there is more of a bouquet effect. The blend becomes muskier, as it wears on.

Less patchouli in this mix, then what an exact replica would provide. Again, not going to be a clone, but on that has a bunch of overlap while being distinct. Idylle Full Review
